I think you’re reading a bit too much into 1 game. Yes I understand there are some concerns with certain guys and the positions they’re in, but it’s 1 game. Give it 5-10 before you make a serious assessment like this as you’ll get a much clearer picture of how players fit within the system.
I agree wheeler is showing signs of regression. Father Time is undefeated and we’ve known this was coming for a few years. I think it would be majorly beneficial to limit his minutes and give him favourable matchups lower in the lineup.
Stanley didn’t have an amazing game but he wasn’t that bad. He’s been extremely effective with his outlet passes in the past, one off game doesn’t mean he needs to stop doing what he’s done best in his young career.
Heinola imo is better suited to playing 1 more year in the AHL to get a bit bigger, playing 23+ minutes a night and playing in all scenarios.
Perfetti honestly impressed me every single game. His vision and hockey IQ is ridiculous, he’s definitely got to work on his foot speed, but that’ll get better over time. Would definitely be better suited in a top 6 role with PP time. Not sure why he’s not in Copp’s spot.
Copp is a great 3LW, and that’s where he should be. Play him with vesalainen and Lowry. Play Harkins with stastny and wheeler, svech with scheifele and Connor. That’s how I’d run it for a game or two at least. You can roll 3 lines that way as well and matchup the Lowry line vs other teams top line if possible. But I’m giving them 5-10 games before I make any real assessments or judgements.
