Yes that's how I'd make the lines, hoping Eichel and Ehlers could get Vesalainen burying pucks with his big shot he's supposed to have, he'll add some size to that line at the very least. Stastny can hopefully cover for two defensively challenged players in Scheifele and Connor, wouldn't be too worried about that line. Wheeler is a 3rd liner now, hopefully he could add some offense to that line and Lowry could show him how to play some defense, Harkins gets his chance, think he'd work well in that spot. The 4th line should be dependable, signed Jankowski for depth and size.
The defense is much improved compared to the last two seasons, had to move DeMelo for some cap savings, Lybushkin should be a fine replacement, Niku gets a chance with a retooling team in Arizona. Signed Hutton to be the #7 dman, sent Beaulieu down for some savings and signed Wheelers buddy Sbisa to be a veteran presence on the Moose and a callup should injuries happen, between all the D prospects with the Moose and Hutton plus Sbisa/Beaulieu the Jets should have enough depth on defense.
Helly will have to carry the bulk of the load, not sure if Comrie can be a legit backup but think he should be given a chance, if he can't get the job done I'm excited to see Berdin get the callup, he's a fun goalie to watch!
So is that enough for Eichel?
Is this Jets team better then it's currently constructed?? I think it is otherwise I wouldn't of made this post!.. 😃
Let me have it in the comment section but let's keep them constructive and civil please and thanks!
Copp can be flipped by Buffalo for more assets, same with PLD if the Sabres wanted too, Gawanke is a RHD prospect with two AHL seasons of experience, I know Buffalo has a lot of LHD prospects/depth but certainly one of them can learn to play on their offhand, Heinola is the Jets best prospect without question.
Gives Arizona some certainty on D for the next few years at a pretty cheap cost, could likely be flipped for a pick if they want. Niku is a throw in, Arizona gives him a look and he needs a change of scenery, he's cheap and would be cheap going forward on his next contract if the Yotes wanted to resign him.
Doubt Buffalo would have much interest in bringing in another problem like Dubois or a rental like Copp
Also no I don't think this team is better short term or long term from the current Jets roster
Yeah I'm not sure if Buffalo would go for it either, some good pieces going their way though and they could extract some good assets from PLD and Copp if they traded them, I'd assume they would if this hypothetical deal actually happened.
I don't see how this Jets team isn't better, I mean it's got Jack freakin Eichel on it!

I think you underrate PLD when he doesnt play like dog**** for a season, as well as the importance of DeMelo, Copp, and the future with Heinola. You basically traded all that depth for a not really needed upgrade on PLD, who is still IMO a very good 1B center

I think Copp and DeMelo are very overrated, if they could be moved for these returns I wouldn't think twice. As for Dubois, I don't disagree and I'm sure he'll rebound but if Eichel could be landed for him plus what's proposed here then so be it.
Heinola is ready now and they jerked him around, acquired dmen with term to block him plus the Jets have plenty of other promising D prospects, as much as I like him and think he'll be very good he's expendable.
