considering leafs went out of their way to sign him on the first day of Free Agency, they plan on giving Gabriel Kurtis every opportunity first. IF he sucks at camp and deserves to be waived thats another thing. But they targeted him early for a reason.

He's definitely putting in the work to make the team but I think he just want to play in Toronto and have that ability to play for the elafs if he makes it or gets called up.

By this logic should we pencil Dahlstrom, Biega and Amadio into the lineup as well?

He was signed to a min deal. The leafs signed Kenny Agostino on July 1st 2019 and he played 0 NHL games in 2019/20 and 1 in 2020/21. And he was fine in training camp.

He's a depth player with a grand total of 49 NHL games over 6 years. He's deep on the depth chart

1 way deal is the reason he signed here. It means he gets NHL money if he is in the NHL or AHL

I've seen a lot of people make the claim the leafs expect/want Kase to be injured for cap reasons.

It would be questionable to sign a non top6/elite player to a contract if he's injured. Anyways, Kase makes $1.25M so there's not much relief. Also, what kind of people wishes an injury to a player on their favorite team.

Not shocked though considering what Leafs fans wrote on Jake DeBrusk's social medias two years ago.

oh I am aware, but signing ahl guys to ahl deals as a rebuttal to my point by the other poster isnt a comparable. They give a guy full NHL money if they think he can help their NHL team. He will get every opportunity to first

Oh I didn't make the connection to Kadris dirty hit. Kadri was the dirty one. The hit on Marleau wasnt the cleanest thing I've seen. Could have earned him a major or misconduct I suppose. But Kadri cross checked him in the face!

(I'm a Leafs fan for the record, just rationale)

Not that rationale if you think in any way that hit on Marleau deserved a major or misconduct. A shoulder on shoulder hit into the boards that was initiated while Marleau still had the puck on his stick.
