      Character is more important than putting up points when you're already winning against weaker teams IMO.

      If TDA's character didn't improve in Tampa, Arizona or New York, what makes you think it will improve in Carolina?

      It will take more than TDA and his level of character to fill the shoes left behind by Dougie.



      As for Stecher, it's a 3rd round pick for someone who did good at the World Championships and in the playoffs for the Canucks.

      I'm just spitballing what his trade value is as a rental.



      2. Carolina needs somebody to quarterback the power-play if it falls apart.

      That's why I brought in Gustafsson.



      3. I didn't know that Gardiner is eligible for LTIR.

      Would you be able to tell me the extent of injury and how long he'll be out of the lineup?



      4. Brind'amour's son hasn't been signed to an ELC by the Oilers yet since being drafted in the 6th round in 2017.

      That tells me all I need to know about his trade value.


      If your giving up a 3rd for Stecher I'm pretty sure Detroit would retain 50%. I do think he is better than most give him credit for the Wings have been bad and no one looks playing on a bad team. He did look pretty good at the Worlds and not just that one goal he looked solid the entire tournament.

      Playing hockey in College and the NHL are two completely ball games.

      Young man chose the collegiate route because he was cut from the team at training camp, knowing full well he wouldn't play for the Oilers at any point.

      Looking at his production to date, which is what you're suggesting, it's been pretty flat for the last two years in college.



      There is no rush for the Oilers because there's not much at stake.

      As a 6th round pick, the odds he plays even one full season worth of games in his career aren't that great.

      I feel pretty confident that in two years, he will no longer be property of the Edmonton Oilers.

      Oh, I see the picture. The draft is all about potential, and the odds become exponentially slimmer as the selections go deeper. Still, there are the occasional late bloomers, so there's no harm in sitting back and waiting to see what this young guy does over the next couple of years.

      Skylar is probably worth a late pick. He's a C tier prospect. Not great, but there are worse.

      I am 100% for this. Oilers should trade him to the Habs for like a 7th rounder.

      Obviously Holland wasn't too upset over the whole goalie debacle with Carolina last year (they claimed Forsberg and then put him on waivers the next day and Winnipeg claimed him since they had priority over the Oilers and had just lost their 3rd string resulting in the Oilers being without a 3rd string which really hit hard when Smith went down and with quarantine rules we had to ride the hell out of Koskinen and have a rookie with no NHL experience riding the bench as a back-up). Holland helped out the Canes by giving them Wells prior to the expansion draft for "future considerations" to allow the Canes to meet expansion eligibility requirements.
