Damn dude I wouldn't give up nearly that much for Meier. He hasn't produced that much in the last two years and his QO is $10m so he may as well be a UFA after this deal expires. Plus he's apparently the only guy on the Sharks who is good buddies with Kane, and given how everyone else feels about Kane, wouldn't be surprised if Meier is not great in the locker room either.

I thought it was 9 mil and jersey is one the teams that would be able to afford it. I dont know where u heard that about Meier and Kane. maybe a lesser package would work here?

In his final year his salary is $10m so that's his QO. Also I read about them being friends on The Athletic.

I hate Meier's 10M QO. He's been regressing every year production wise. I rather keep the assests or move them for a better winger like Fiala

They could afford it for now but when Hughes, Smith, etc come off their ELC, Devils might be tight on cap

subban is coming off the books soon and smith and Hughes can get bridge deals and Meier can get short term

Right I know that. But there's no reason for the Sharks to sell low on him for slightly underwhelming prospects who would be redundant in our system. We'll just keep him if the offer isn't enticing enough. No harm in doing that yet.

harm in keeping him if you can get some good stuff for him and you r rebuilding

Two problems with that though

A) We're not rebuilding
B) Meier's value is currently lower than it should be. If he has a bounce back season next year (which is totally possible) we can trade him for way more.

Overpay. Take out Mukhamadullin.

Question - If they are not rebuilding, so what do they need (other than a super-team friendly Hertl extension)?
