Description

So sit down Rangers fans(me included) before you read the trade. Jones has already been compared to Fox (not sure I agree) that was in May before the Norris. If you want Eichel and you can't pay both Zib/Fox next year , our strength is D. You can't pay Trouba/Fox/Zils if as good as they say each $8+m. Deal for Eichel from the strength of the depth of D. Now you can sign Zib/Kakko next year.
I thought it was crazy at first but the more I thought about it the more it made sense. And oh yeah don't kill me on this. Just spittballing. It is armchair gm after all. I'm 50/50 on Eichel because of the neck issues. From what I have read Jones can play both sides and run a PP. 1 kid each line.

The difference is: Jones and Nils MAY be good... we already know that Fox is a top 5 defenseman in the league. I strongly disagree with this, but I won't kill you, either.

And on the absolute rare chance that it would happen... I think it would be a lot more of a one-for-one, rather than adding another young top 6 winger, and a first round pick

Fox wouldn’t go. Probably rather retire than do that. But in all seriousness it’d be a 1 for 1 and since he has a major award in the Norris under his belt as top d man, I’m not sending another asset on top of that. Plus Trouba could be bought out or traded before it came down to this.

I’m just hesitant cause while Nils and Schneider may become great, we know that Fox is great right now and he’s only a few years older than each of them. Guaranteed that a Buffalo fan will say no to this.

I get that. My concern is this year Jack will miss substantial amount of games which could be the reason we miss playoffs. So it’s a waste of a year for our team. Make it a 3rd and a B-C prospect at the most

I think you have to consider trading Fox at his highest value. Remember the Rangers got him for a 2nd and conditional 3rd. I know things have changed but if in January you put up the same deal Rangers do it in a second, Buffalo just laughs.

Worst Eichel trade yet from a Rangers stand point, congrats on that. A 24 year old Norris Trophy winner PLUS Kravstov PLUS a 1st round pick for an injured player. Fox by himself would be an overpay for Eichel IF Eichel were healthy, and he's not.
