Imo ARI has two players that should be safe from their rebuild. They're Keller and Chychrun.

I can actually confirm that Chychrun is 100% the only untouchable in the organization.

That being said, this is a massive overpayment for Keller. He hasn't been great since his rookie season and there's not much information suggesting he'll grow to anything more than a 60-70 point winger, which aren't that hard to find. Even with the Gardiner contract in the deal, it's a massive overpayment.

65-70pt wingers would be a top line player

He had 1 65 point season so even that's a stretch. He doesn't drive offence that well and just because he may get points doesn't mean he's a top line player - he's kid like one but he's never priced he's more than a middle 6 winger, which are extremely easy to find and better ones are available that aren't highly overpaid like Keller is.

I work in hockey and I know people within the Coyotes organization. Keller is a 60 point winger at best (he had it in 1 season), saying 70 was being generous. It's not about the amount of points a player gets, it's how he gets them. Keller doesn't drive play well and isn't a great finisher. Players like him are very easy to find and ones that are cheaper.

60 points in ARI probably translates to 75 on a team with actual depth and scoring threats throughout the lineup.

Keller hasn't had 60+ points in a season in 4 years.. right now he's a 40-45 point winger. & that's not how hockey works but if that's what helps you sleep at night then go ahead and believe that.
