Calgary is too high, imo may not even make playoffs after that terrible season.

It's gonna likely be Vegas and Edmonton top 2, and then 3, 4, 5 will be a battle between Seattle, LA, and Vancouver.

I was thinking of putting the oilers above the flames but our defence and goaltending is big question mark.

This is so wrong lmao. Vegas Oilers and Canucks make the playoffs. Seattle and Calgary will be scratching for a wildcard spot.

Yeah well now you have Hyman with McDavid so I mean that scoring will be lethal

Because Vancouver was so dominant last year? The Canucks are going no where until they get a system that doesn't give up the most high danger chances in the league. Giving up 10 2 on 1's a game will never work.

I bet it won't be as big an impact as people think. McDavid will score a tonne of points but Hyman isn't the sniper oiler fans want him to be. Will score some garbage goals but he's going to fire the puck into goalies pads way more than you are prepared to see.

He's gonna have 30+ goals regardless

I think you forgot about the part where we actually improved this offseason… Saying a team will not do good because of a past season is foolish. Canuck have made so many upgrades this offseason. Our defence may not be super strong but it’s a huge upgrade over last year… Canuck also have one of the most dangerous top 9 forward group in the NHL along with very good goaltending…. I take it you don’t know the slightest about the Canucks if you based your judgements on one shortened season where the players all got COVID 💀 💀 💀

Canucks defence is definitely not super strong but their offence is stacked and hopefully Demko can bail us out.

Possibly but he's never done it in TO playing with Marner and Matthews, JT and Nylander. So to think McDavid is going to give him 10-20 more goals is rather ridiculous. It's not like he's been playing with scrubs. Hyman is a guy who can score 50-60 points with elite linemates and 30 points without.

How did they improve? Garland upfront isn't putting you over the top. And you replaced and underwhelming Schmidt and a declining Edler with a declining OEL. Your defence is garbage.

So they'll fight for a playoff spot just like CGY

Alright… How did they improve? Well first off, Pettersson missed more than half the season last year but now he’s healthy. Garland is super underrated and is gonna play shotgun next to big Bo which moves Pearson down to the third line as a solid depth forward.Dickinson is a monster defensively and takes the defensive burden off of Horvat which leads me to believe he’s gonna pop off offensively next season. Podkolzin is gonna make the third line even stronger. With that, we finally have a very strong top9 and a very good shutdown line with Motte-Sutter and whoever fills out the last spot.
Our defence last season
Hughes-Hamonic
Edler-Schmidt
Benn-Myers
I think it’s safe to say that it’s a little bit better than last season…
We also have a new assistant coach that helps with defence a lot. He’s the same coach who helped the CBJ be a team with one of the lowest goals against in the league and turned players like Jones into stars… If the defence can’t get it done, the forwards and goaltending should…

He was on pace to do it though both of the previous two seasons.

Wishful thinking. You could finish anywhere from 2nd or pretty much last only because the division sucks. You'd fight with Detroit for last in the Atlantic

Detroit wouldn’t even be last lol. Buffalo does happen to exist and so does Ottawa. Vancouver has a better forward group than most of the league. They obviously would have a harder time in the Atlantic but that doesn’t matter. Pacific is weak and Vancouver should have no problem making the playoffs.

It's not going to be easy. The Canucks had the worst expected goal rate in the league last year. And all you did to fix that was move out Edler and Schmidt (who had your best expected goal rates) and replace with OEL (been declining for a couple of seasons), Tucker Poolman (who was dismal defensively last season) and Luke Schenn. Enough said, your forward group is not bad but not nearly good enough to make up for your ****ty defence.

Time will tell. OEL might have a bounce back season on a new team and goaltending plus scoring should get things done.
