That is 6 1sts and a huge overpay with too much risk before he has surgery.

Edit misread Drouins name so yeah 5 1st is still too much for Eichel before recovery

Say what you want, but Jack Eichel doesn’t get traded unless the asking price gets met. There is no timeline in which he must be traded, whether he likes it or not. If they don’t get the offer they want they hang onto him, he comes back healthy, and prove hes worth what the Sabres are asking for. The only good reason to lower your price is knowing that he’s not going to play again, but not letting the team trading for him know that until the deal is done. Pretty sure that’s kind of not how things work, but that’s the only way buffalo ever wins a Jack Eichel trade even if they get what they are asking for.

IF he comes back healthy then yes the asking price gets met and I wouldn't have an issue with the value BUT right now the value is too high.

Ok great what is the trade you would like from MTL.
With that said I don't think they trade to Mtl.

Honestly I very much doubt that Eichel would end up in the division. But for Montreal to win the bidding war for Eichel they would have to give up some thing other teams aren’t willing to, especially as a division opponent. Buffalo has no need for defensemen, and I would say the conversation begins and ends with the lack of availability of Caufield. Especially since even if they were willing to give him up it wouldn’t be one for one. But just for fun, since I understand Montreal would have to move money as well:

Kotkaniemi, Caufield, and Anderson or Toffoli would be a good start to the conversation.

This is pretty false. Eichel doesn’t want to be a Sabre anymore. Neither does Reinhart. If they keep Eichel, he may not even play next season and then he has a NMC and gets to choose where he ends up. And then BUF has to just take what’s given by said team.
