What's this about Greene's bonus?

In order to save money last year, Greene signed and got 1 million last year, with performance bonuses of something like 10 games played, he would get 1.3 mil in bonuses, but because of LTIR use and some sort of overage in Bonuses, his bonuses last year would not count to last years cap, but this years.

So, how does this improve the team from last year?
Yes, the D core is stronger but you're only move up front is Parise for Palmieri... that's not a positive, forward move for a team that's streaky and needs help on the PP

And you're at $0 cap with only 21 players.

How does this improve the team? Anders Lee stays, Parise for the entire regular season, Wahlstrom is better, Dobson gets more minutes and is better, Sorokin is now 1b and is better, we get two PP specialists to help the struggling Isles PP. Komarov can be buried when someone needs to be called up(happened consistently last regular season.)

I’m not so sure Palmieri is a step up from Parise. Palmieri was awful last regular season, and while he woke up for the playoffs, he fell right back asleep against Tampa when it mattered. I doubt that’s too much worse than bringing in Parise and saving a whole bunch in cap space.

Pass on Leddy. I’m not sure if Ottawa interested in a rental or what his value is let alone if a 3rd is fair but his cap hits 5.5m, salary owed is 7m. That alone probably would scare Ottawa off. The fact that he’s a LD doesn’t help either.

Yeah I wasn’t sure, realistically it could be any other team, but I think that Ottawa will be trying to make the playoffs this year, and having Leddy would help them in that.

I get your thinking, I just don't agree. I hope I'm wrong and you're right as I'm an isles fan but I am wary with Lee coming off major surgery and everyone expecting the moon of him. I don't have expectations of Wahlstrom stepping in full time and pumping 30 in because he's a year older or him and Dobson to magically make the PP better because they were both apart of it for large stretches this year.
My personal thought is the isles play the way they do and are constructed the way they are because they don't have the pure snipers type of talent that can walk in and pick corners. Their players miss the net a lot, shoot into the crest of the goalie a lot because they're just a hard working, force the other team in stupid mistakes, creating chances type of team.
What I'm saying here is that Parise/Suter plus last years roster isn't "better".
I don't think there's much they can do this summer unless they unload multiple players or mortgage everything. But, I'm not sold with those 2 in and no wiggle room.

You are wrong about literally everything you said. No, Lee isn’t going to be his best self right out of the gate, but he will sure as he’ll be better than Komarov or anyone else on the islanders in his position. Wahlstrom will be better next year, that’s obvious, so will the other two young players. Both Dobson and Wahlly play the PP, they will be better, Parise and Suter would play the PP, being better than who they are replacing on the PP.

Might be in the minority of Wings fans, but I'd think Detroit would consider that Hickey trade.
