I like Dvorak, but I don't think he's worth this much. Others probably disagree but he has never scored more than ~30 points in a season (to be fair, he was on pace for 45 this year but that still isn't top 6 center production) and I think we need more of an offensive player for Kaprizov.

That's too much for Dvorak. I think Beckman and a 2nd should be more or less the line in the sand. You can take out the 3rd, take out Rask, but I wouldn't give that much.

Isles aren't retaining, we need all the cap space we can get.

Schmaltz isn't really a center. I mean, he's played a lot of it, but his game is much better suited to the wing. Dvorak is a tried and true center in the purest sense of the word, but his offensive upside isn't as high as Schmaltz. If you want the guy who's going to be the center, Dvorak is your guy. If you have some flexibility and it wouldn't hurt you to play Schmaltz at wing, and you're just looking for offensive output, Schmaltz is your guy.

I think the Dvorak move also makes the most sense for the Wild given his long term control and the offer is fair. Beckman is expendable in my eyes and a late first plus a 2nd/3rd is fair. If the Yotes can find more value for him than what is offered here then more power to them. They are looking at a long term rebuild and most contending teams are going to ask them to take salary back in trades this offseason. Rask is serviceable and a UFA they could flip for more assets if he plays well during the season.

The only issue I see in this team was the 2 year deal for Stepan. There's no need to do that if you're trading for Dvorak. A one year offer to let Rossi get up to speed is all that's needed on Stepan. Money will be too tight next year and Strum needs a new contract.

I see it as insurance if we don't resign Sturm.
