Description
Let me know how I did value wise. I think the trades are objectively pretty even, maybe not the Zacha trade but it looks good and you never know.

Thanks man. I didn’t think the Zacha trade would happen I just figured it looked good and was fun to throw in there. I’m hoping Dumba either gets traded to you guys or Philly. You and Philly have what the Wild are looking for.

Copp for Dumba...gives MIN a solid player that can be an injury replacement 2C...or a 3C/2LW regularly

There's even been some speculation that Detroit might be in on Matt Dumba, Basically any team that can't protect some of their Dmen. Detroit might have interest in Vince Dunn and Matt Dumba along with Marcus Pettersson's names have come up. The Athletic article mentioned Yzerman talking to St Louis, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Philly and Carolina on the availability of some of their Dmen.

Dumba, Larsson, Hamilton. It's gonna be interested to see what happens

I wouldn’t mind that, but the Wild are looking for young center prospects who are 21/22 years old that still have time to grow into a better player.

That’s news to me but exciting. Does Detroit have anybody similar to Boqvist or Frost that they could part ways with? Guys that play center and are around 21/22 years old who are just starting their careers or are about to?

Depending on who we draft this year, I guess Yzerman could make Joe Veleno available. But i don't see that happening without at least giving him a one year look.

Yeah I can’t see Yzerman letting that happen either. I would love to have Veleno in a Wild sweater as he fits that same mold of Frost and Boqvist but unless I’m mistaken the Red Wings are in the same boat as the Wild where as we both need to shore up the center position. I just don’t see you guys getting rid of your best center prospect.

Exactly, Doubtful Yzerman moves him but you never know. Yeah both Detroit and Minnesota are Center depleted so it makes no sense to deal one of our young C prospects for a position that really isn't needed since RD is our strength. Not sure why Yzerman would be interested in Dumba but an Athletic article mentioned it none the less.

Yeah that makes sense. We never know though. The next few weeks should be exciting.

I think the Flyers would jump on that if it was Frost and a 2021 1st or Patrick and a protected 2022 1st.

Me too. I’m trying to make the trades as even as possible. I think in any other circumstance the Wild could get more value for Dumba but teams know that we either trade him now or lose him to Seattle in two weeks. Personally, if the Wild can get Frost and a 1st from Philly or Jesper Boqvist and 1st from New Jersey Id be happy.

I think the only thing keeping Fletcher from jumping on this would be finding himself in the same spot MIN is in now. Which 3 of 4 defensemen does he protect: Dumba, Sanheim, Provorov, or Myers (most likely)? It’d be a real roll of the dice to leave Myers exposed even after playing as poorly as he did last season.

Yeah, that’s very true. I think what will sway him is if he can get Dumba for the right deal. That might persuade him enough to make the pre expansion trade. The Wild technically could protect Dumba but then the only reason we would trade him after the expansion draft is to get his money off the books.

Nice work here, these are similar ideas to what I’ve had but the Detroit stuff is news to me. I wonder if a lot of teams are probably waiting to see what happens with Jones before seriously calling on guys like Dumba. Would be a bad look to pay for dumba then see Jones move a week later for similar comp.

Philly and New Jersey do and they’re both trying to bolster the blue line. Jesper Boqvist and Morgan Frost are exactly the type of players we’re looking to get in return.
