Johnson’s value increases due to his great play in these playoffs. He’s proved he’s a valuable asset and has been a major part of the Bolts run due to forechecking, shot blocking, and timely goals/assists.

Oilers are willing to give up some futures for a player who is extremely underrated and can perform well in almost every facet of the game (except power play). Although it’d suck to see him go, I’d prefer him over Killorn.

Two top 6 level prospects who have torn up the AHL for future picks and a solid bottom 6 player. I don’t see Raddysh or Katchouk cracking the top 6 on TB so it’s better to move they while they still have value for a guy like Blais who will fit in well and help the team win now

Since your team is desperate Oilers decline. Stalock for Palat (maybe a 3/4th).

I'm liking the idea on the Oilers trade. I'd rather we get Palat than Killorn anyways. But other Oilers fans would probably turn that 2nd into a 3rd or 4th. I'm all for that trade though. Palat would fit

Yes I think it’d be a great trade for EDM. Palat is seriously underrated because he plays with Point and Kuch but he would play even better with McDavid or Draisital.

Could either sign Goodrow for less or have STL retain on Blais to create some extra cap

1- Raddysh and Katchouk are NOT top 6 level because they're poor skaters and they're NOT even prospects anymore at 23 - Blues pass.
2- You're vastly overrating how much Johnson's value rose, if it even rose at all - this maneuver will cost you a 1st+.

Someone else will certainly top that sad offer. Old, average back-up goalies are a dime a dozen.

Hahaha what? The Blues would scoff at that trade offer, and Blais isn;t even all that valuable himself.

I’m not sure why. Raddysh and Katchouk are both NHL ready as they both put up over a point per game in the AHL last season. They’ve had steady progression but have yet to be given a shot at the NHL. Very good chance at least 1 of them can play in the top 9 and be much better than Blais ever will be.

Who does TB protect? Because they surely will not have all of Serg, McD, Cernak Killorn Gourde and Palat to keep or trade unless you protect them all.

Since there are probably 6 out of the 20 team list send Palat to another one for a similar return and tell Holland to pound sand. How many guys available do you know will be able to keep up with McDavid Palat keeps up with Point and Kucherov. ..... As for his inability on the pp look at his pp numbers this year when he got too line pp minutes. It says when given the opportunity he produces on it.

I think he could be if he got the right minutes. He was so in and out of the lineup that he never really got a chance to prove himself.

Ideally, we’d go 8-1 and protect Hedman, Serg, Cernak, Foote, Stamkos, Point, Kuch, and Cirelli. We would then give Seattle compensation to select Tyler Johnson over Killorn or Palat. Realistically, Seattle will probably select Killorn or Palat as they are both better than Johnson.

You got a point here. I guess I don't have enough of a picture on Palat to judge whather or not I'd want him for that deal.

They're poor skaters, and probably career AHLers. Blais has vastly improved his points per 60 two seasons in a row, pushing it above 2.1 last year. And hits everything he sees. And is fairly decent at carrying the puck out of the D zone and into the O zone. If he ever stayed healthy long enough to get some momentum, he might be a 20-goal scorer. Those two guys might not combine for 20 career goals. Plus, the Blues are not throwing around draft picks for scrubs, they need to keep as many as they can right now.

I guess we’ll agree to disagree on your scouting report on these guys as “scrubs.” I guess the future will tell if this would’ve been a good move by the Blues or not.

It's not just my scouting report. That's the consensus. Everyone talks about how their poor skating level drags them down.

Right but I’d argue their shots/offensive ability helps make up for that lack of skating. Maybe not at the NHL level but that’s why they are boom or bust

Okay, well there's a very good reason neither has played a single NHL game at 23 and having played three full seasons in the A. It's the same reason the Blues won't give Blais and two middle draft picks for them. The hockey world is littered with guys like this.

I’m not so sure. He’s a great player, don’t get wrong. In my opinion he’s one of, if not the best defensive defenseman in the league. The problem is that he is aging and that he is on a long term contract that isn’t set to expire anytime soon
