Yup. That's what I would do if I was Francis. Or just go out and spend the remaining cap space on some FAs.

I don't watch a lot of TB so I'm not sure about the actual impact of certain players on the team. I always felt like Gourdes contract is a bit rich (money or term). So yes, maybe you rather keep McDonagh. I guess it really depends on what values BrisBois more forwards vs. defence, younger vs. older. In the end TB will only lose one player anyways. If I was Seattle I'd pick a guy like Foote and stay away from bigger contracts for older players even if they're good players.

I see your point but disagree. Same goes for many of their forwards like Killorn or Gourde. If I had the choice I'd rather protect two players than one. But I guess it depends on how one values Killorn and Gourde vs. McDonagh.

Unfortunately I agree. :) I don't see any need for the Avs to accept. From an Oilers perspective I'd do this deal for sure.

Off-Season Oilers
I could see this happen if Holland wanted to go aggressive. And tbh I wouldn't hate it. If the goal was to go all in I would keep Kassian tho. He's not terrible (his contract is a bit rich, yes) and brings some sandpaper to the lineup.

This Team Couldnt Be In A Worse Position
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gunnar</b></div><div>From the coyotes perspective, there headed for another 3-4 year retool/rebuild. So while Kessel still has some value at the age of 33 and will more than likely leave in free agency next year, he doesn't fit in their overall plan. As for the value side I think it's relatively low for someone who was on pace for 30 goals and 63 points in 82 games simply due to the fact he will be 34 come next season and has been known to be somewhat difficult to coach. But knowing Holland he'd probably be willing to give up a first and Holloway for him.</div></div>
I see your point here and agree. As an Oilers fan I could see Kessel fit in. I'd be willing to give it a try for that price.
But you nailed it, Holland probably rather wants to give up Holloway and a 1st for Kessel if Armstrong offered him your deal. In the presser when asked about this deal Holland would aggressively state that Kessel has won cups in the past which makes it worth the price because this automatically leads to winning cups in the present. And since Kessel and Keith have a combined 5 cups this means five cups for the Oilers as long as those two play.

July 14 Kraken Sim - D and G Heavy
EDM won't protect Klefbom and Koskinen. Klef won't play again and they want to get rid of Koskinen anyways. We'll probably end up protecting Skinner at goalie. I also don't see them protecting Kassian over Marody. But that's more debatable than the other things I touched on.

Maximizing the LTIR
I like the idea. Exchange Hall for another top six player with a better fit and I'd consider this a successful off-season (except the Keith trade of course). Also I don't think we'll be able to attract better depth guys, so players like Bonino and Ryan seem very realistic to me.

I like this one. EDM won't be able to sign a ton of FAs like some other ACGM suggest.
1) I think you'd have to pay way more to Hyman in order to get him to leave Toronto. More like 5x5.5 or even closer to 6. Which would be an overpayment but I think that's what I'd take to get him.
2) I heard that EDM is talking to Smith about a two year contract. As of today they're not close because Smith wants more money (I don't know the numbers, just that it's going to be a 2 year contract)
3) I think the Larsson signing is realistic, altough one would like to get him below 4 Mio. But Holland has no leverage and basically has to pay what Larsson wants if he wants Larsson to stay (and ever since the Keith deal we know having leverage doesn't mean anything with Holland).
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>math731</b></div><div>That first is what it would cost you to dump Neal… So Garland for Niemelainen is fair in your opinion?</div></div>
I agree. This trade is essentially two trades: (1) dumping Neal for a 1st and (2) trading Niemeläinen for Garland. No. 1 is fair. No. 2 won't happen.

EDM accepts after the expansion draft. But why would the Yots do this? Ok, Kessel isn't what he used to be but Russell is a solid bottom pair D at an ok price and a low 2nd is a low 2nd. I think Oilers would win this trade, which means Ken Holland can't let that happen.

What Steve Y only wants a 2nd in order to take Koskinen? Holland can't let that happen. Lets give DET a 1st on top and have Nielsen going the other way. And maybe Holland could sign Abdelkader to another 7 year, 4,250,000 AAV contract while he's at it.

I think the Lucic idea is very interesting. From my point of view Gardiner still has more value than Lucic. Like you said Calgary gets the better contract to buy out, plus the better player. So if I was the Cans I wouldn't pay anything on top.
Lucic and Canes 1st vs. Gardiner and Flames 1st.
Since most of you seem to like the deal I'm wondering if I'm missing something. :)

Holland immediately calls BriseBois and offers a 1st and Draisaitl. Because just like he did with Keith, he looked at Johnsons resumee and saw that he has two cups instead of Draisaitl who has none. Plus Johnson brings leadership and is a veteran player in the NHL whereas Draisaitl's still young and has to establish himself. I call it. You heard it here first.

I mean no reason to take a look at the stats, Keiths still an 85 in NHL 21. Perfect. Let's get him and his contract and PAY for it.

Oilers Roster With Keith And Wishlist For 2021-2022
First of all not all of these guys will sign even if Holland made all of them an offer. But you said, it's a wishlist.
1) Minni won't take Turris. No one will.
2) Seattle will ask for waaaaaaay more in order to take Neal. A fringe NHL D and a low 2nd certainly won't do it. EDM probably has to buy out Neal.
3) Out of all teams Calgary will be the last team to help out the Oilers. I don't think Koskinen is tradable at this point. Oilers will have to ride it out or buy him out.
4) Kassians contract is bad. PIT certainly won't take him. They don't need him, they don't have the cap space. You'd have to pay teams to take him on. He'll stay.
With that being said, you won't abe able to free up all the cap space like you have. So for that reason alone not all of these FA would be able to sign (even if they wanted to)
5) Kulikov and Larsson are realistic imo. I hope Larsson takes a paycut but I don't believe it. I'd pencil him in at 4x4 at least (and since Holland just showed us that he watched Peter Chiarelli real close [thanks for that Keith deal Ken] he'll probably sign Larsson at 5x5 or something like that). This takes away even more cap space.
6) You'd have to pay Hyman more in order to leave TOR and come to EDM. He's from Toronto, and it's a bigger market than EDM (meaning more financial opportunities outside of hockey). I don't think he'll come to EDM.
7) I like the Granlund and Armia signings. Not sure about their price tags. I don't know them well enough and due to the pandemic it's hard to tell how the FA market prices will be.
8) Since I think that we'll have significant less money than you estimated, I don't think we'll be able to sign Ullmark (or similar). I guess Ken will kick that can down the road and stick with Koskinen/Smith (as bad as that sounds. But hey, at least we have Keith coming in at 5.5x2).
All in all this your ACGM would be the perfect off-season for the Oilers. But I doubt it'll happen. At this point I think all we can expect is the signing of one more 'top' winger and that's it. But maybe I'm just too pessimistic.

The only way he comes at full cap hit is if Neal goes the other way, 1 for 1
Hawks have one team to deal with and he 100% don’t need to make this trade, the Hawks either take a massive loss on this one and reward a guy that’s given everything to the organization or they decided to piss Kieth off balls in their court he aren’t doing then any favours here</div></div>
I agree. Neal would have to go back in order to make this somewhat acceptable for the Oilers. But like you said Neal coming back wouldn't help the Hawks a single bit. They don't need forwards, they want to free up cap space and they want young boday. None of this applies to Neal. I think the Oilers should an will stay away from this and Keith will end up going to Seattle.

Da Bears
I understand that not everybody watches the Oilers and I also understand that fans tend to overvalue players from their respecitve teams and undervalue players from other teams. On top of that Bear didn't have a good season. BUT Bear is a 24 year old player who already played two seasons in the NHL. Even this year he was fringe top 4 and he has the potential to develop into a top 4 D. Trading him for Keith would be a crime by Holland.

Big Additions
Oilers don't need any more top end talent at offense. As ridiculus as this top 6 would be, we don't need it. We need depth, meaning solid middle 6 forwards who can score but also work hard. I don't think Hall would sign for this in EDM it'd take more for him to come back to EDM. I personally rather spend his and Reinhards money on some depth another solid D man.
