no to the calgary trade

im sure jets fans don't like the flames trade but I don't think its that bad. Maybe a bit of an overpay because of the FRP AND Copp.

I do believe the Tkachuk wanting out rumor has been debunked.

Extreme overpay by Winnipeg for an expensive player, that will be looking for a big raise, that they don't need in that Calgary trade.

This is a very interesting offseason. I think the Calgary trade is reasonable, though I’m not sure it helps Winnipeg as much as it helps set up Calgary for a retool.

I love the Jets top 3 lines, I would slot Gustafsson in for Lewis and move Helm to the wing.

The D is still a top 4 dman short. The 3rd pair is an upgrade over the past two years, and Hamilton is a top pairing D (not sure if a second round pick is worth it). But I’m not sold on Stanley or Heinola on the second pair. Maybe in 2 years, but not next year. LD would be the weakness on this team. Losing Demelo would also be tough, as he’s a great mentor, partner for Heinola/Stanley. Not sure how much Hamonic has in the tank, but he might be able to fill that role.

My biggest concern is 22-23.... Tkachuk’s QO is $9M, Dubois is an RFA, as is Appleton and Vesalainen, plus all 3 scratches. The 4th line are all UFAs Resigning all these players with only $19M in cap space will be very difficult. So the Tkachuk trade would be great for one season, but put the Jets in cap trouble one year later.

Even if the rumour isn’t true, Calgary needs to shake up its core, trading Tkachuk or Jonny Hockey is the only way to do it. It’s ArmChair GM, so almost all of the trades and FA signings will never happen.

The rumor was started by Shane O’Brien of Sportsnet 650 (Vancouver). Ryan Pinder of Sportsnet 960 (Calgary) said: “In reaching out to some folks around the (Calgary) organization, they described this rumor in two words. The first one being bull. The second one sounding a lot like shirt.”

If the Canes moved Hamilton to Winnipeg after signing the contract, could we get DeMelo instead of the pick?
