Agreed. If anything, Treliving should give the team to Tkachuk. Like move both Monahan and Gaudreau (and get things in return) while giving the team (which includes the C) to Tkachuk.

As a 3rd party, marner is worth his contract in skill if he performs in the playoffs. I have a strange feeling that he can’t handle the Toronto media and pressure to win there(Hometown). Marner has also played beside Tavares and made both of these C better than they already are. Meaning, him beside Monahan and JG he would actually have them produce in the 100’s. Losing the toughness of chucky sucks but the wins from the skill will make up for it and you can find fighters cheap. If NYR wasn’t going to be in cap he’ll shortly I’d be all about getting MM16

I guess points 1 and 2 are valid, but you put point 3 out there and it makes zero sense.

Mathew brings more to the table than marner does and will be cheaper, as we see in the playoffs, Depth and physicality mater allot more than in the regular season, playmakers are fine in the regular season but useless mostly in the playoffs become everything become tighter and most goals are the so called "dirty" goals

And lets also mention that Luke Schenn has 1 goal in 1 game...

Which brings us to the conclusion: Schenn > Marner
