Avs Offseason

Créé par: Foppa21
Équipe: 2021-22 Avalanche du Colorado
Date de création initiale: 15 juin 2021
Publié: 15 juin 2021
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Expansion draft: Erik Johnson waives his M-NTC, NMC. He doesn't qualify for exposure, so the Avs expose Jacob MacDonald instead. Protected list: Mackinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog, Burakovsky, Miller, Jost, Nichushkin, Makar, Girard, Toews, and Grubauer. My thinking is that even with Virtanen available, Donskoi would still be the likely pick.

Toronto trade: Avs get a reliable RD fill-in if an injury occurs and a future 2nd rounder. Toronto gets their boy back for what I would say is a reasonable price. Reasonable value?

Vancouver trade: Avs get a 2C upgrade and a cost-controlled 3rd line winger. Canucks get a defensive upgrade and a cost-controlled 3C in need of a change of scenery. They get a second-rounder to sweeten the deal.

Wasn't even aware of them, but yeah, unquestionably. Who would you substitute?

I would have taken Motte over Virtanen even before the allegations. Virtanen is not a very good player in the bottom 6 and hes not good enough to be a top 6 player.
Motte knows what he is in that role

Dubas moved Kadri because he kept getting suspended in the playoffs so I don't think he's welcome back after his latest incident. I imagine Kadri is going to a fringe playoff team next season

Yeah, the team is interchangeable IMO. I imagine the Avs will just hold onto him, but getting Miller as an upgrade would be nice, especially since the Canucks will have to move money out.

I agree with your comments on Virtanen but it is a civil suit like Patrick and Evander Kane at this time. It could lead to Criminal court but hasn't yet. If he is cleared or settles he has a higher window than Motte who had 3 concussions this year.

The big ticket in this deal is Miller so the risk of Virtanen is a whole lot to gain or oh well it didn't work out. A thing to remember with ex Canuck players is most of them do better once they leave the team.

Hughes and Pettersson are due massive raises, cap issues with Ericksson, etc. How does that make for zero reason?

I dont think Virtanen is a smart enough hockey player, his IQ is lacking and would be a dumpster fire under a coach like bednar and how the avs play. He would be a lost puppy out there especially on a line with Jost and Nuke who are defensive and forechecking machines.

Not a fan of the player Virtanen and when you add in the off ice stuff right now, you dont go near him.

Move Kadri to Ottawa for futures to appease the sickos. Toronto would probably trade Holl for a decent pick (or Connor Timmins because Dubas loves his former Greyhounds)

That is fine . I think most people who know him feel the same. If he ever did smarten up he would be a decent player.

Eh, Holl isn't the real target there. If the Avs can get futures and a good defensive piece or sign one (Oleksiak) with the space created, then they'll come out better on the other side.

You mean the one year of eriksson? I mean they have over 20 million to re-sign Hughes and Pettersson so it's really not an issue that's like me saying we will trade you guys schmidt and a 3rd for newhook because you guys need to re-sign landeskog

sadly I think that ship has sailed. He has played over 300 NHL games. Guys are pretty much who they are at this point in this career. Rarely do they put it all together when what is lacking in their game is the ability to process it at a higher speed

Projected cap space is just under 15 million.... And remember LTIR doesn't kick in until after the season starts, so those contracts count against the cap. 15 million might get Hughes and Petterson resigned but there are still roster spots that need filling, other rfas that need to be signed and even with buying out virtanen and maybe holtby, still need to fill those holes as well. Eriksson can only save 2 mill with a buyout and roussel just over a mill wth as buyout, and less of they are sent to the minors. Unfortunately with the contracts they have, good chance they pay to move out money or else they just end up being another bottom feeder / fringe playoff team.

It's actually 21 million but please carry on like you said pettey and huges at 15 mill, that's 6 million to fill out the roster more then enough, there is Zero reason for fan to do this to gain an extra 2 million lmao

I'm thinking you are looking at Ferland and beagle being on LTIR, that gives them 21 million, that only counts of they can prove they won't be fit to play by the start of the season. The team could still go above the cap by 10% but I'm not sure they can prove they won't be fit to play, although I think everyone knows they are both probably done for good. Even with the extra 6 million or so, they have alot of holes to fill.

All good, not trying to argue just stating what I think I know, and for the trade, Graves doesn't really help the Canucks as the have Hughes, Schmidt, joulevi, Rathbone (if they all sign contracts), plus Edler if he comes back for LD. Getting rid of Miller when he was one of the best players on the team also wouldn't make sense. Compher could be good maybe but that trade doesn't make any sense for the Canucks. Most people don't make these trades thinking about the other teams needs though, me as well.

No i 1000% agree with you I like compher and graves on the Canucks just not at that package what so ever i mean if we start wanting to get into picks and prospects then sure like something like lind plus our 2nd this year then we can talk for sure, op's package just makes zero sense and favors Colorado heavily

I was genuinely trying to think about the Canucks, but perhaps did so more from a cap-situation standpoint. Maybe everything turns out alright for you guys, but it doesn't look great from the outside looking in. Our fanbase is obviously looking for an upgrade over Kadri and Miller fits the bill. I'd seen a number of AGMs with Graves going to VAN and figured it might be the start of something.

You know and that's fair obviously its hard to follow other teams cap situation closely when its not your own I am not going to sit here and say i don't like Graves he is a good dman this just isn't the trade for him, Virtanen is mostly likely going to be bought out so there is another 2 million i don't blame you trying get a good player at a cheaper cost because the team is cashstraped but The Van capspace issue is kinda overblown and really it's nothing to worry about imho
