Not too bad…though I’m still leaning towards just rebuilding, and not “reloading.” Which is to say, I think Laine will be traded, and CBJ are going to really ask Werenski what his future plans are. If they’re inclined to believe they’ll be going through this all over again next offseason with him, he’s likely traded, even with two years control.
I think CBJ could get a *little* more from PHI, since taking Ghostbear is a net-negative, and is doing PHI a favor.
I’d normally be OK with the CHI trade - I think Strome is a more established player who can be an upgrade on Bemstrom; though, I’m curious to see how Bem will play under Not-Torts.
I don’t think Galchenyuk or Sami sign here. They’re UFA, and are likely more interested in going to a contender, as opposed to a middling CBJ squad.
Last point - I think CBJ are inclined to leave Gus exposed, but that’s more because I don’t think SEA cares to take him. I’d be surprised if they did, but I guess 🤷♂️
All in all, if this leaves CBJ with near $20M in cap space, I’d be calling every team with a bad contract and taking it on in exchange for picks, prospects, or penny stocks. Turris, Koskinen, Eriksson, etc. If they only have 1-2 years left, I’m taking it on.
