Mode - plafond salarial: Basique

Description

Don't buy out anyone.
Don't sign any old FA's to long term contracts. I know most Oilers teams on here have them signing Hyman, Tatar, Coleman etc. I think that's a mistake. Take a chance on some cheap skilled guys looking to reestablish themselves (much like Barrie last offseason) with 1 yr show me deals. Use Nuge in a shut down line role.

Oilers will be back in the pacific division next year. Playoffs are pretty much gaurenteed. They will mostly likely face Calgary or Vancouver in the 1st round, which even this current team should be able to beat handily. The road to the cup will be through Vegas for at least the next 2-3 years.

The young players like Yamamoto, Puljujarvi, Bouchard & Bear are still developing but will be a big part of this team soon. McLeod, Holloway & Broberg need some time still but are very promising players.

Ride out Smith and koski in net for one last season. Next off-season, spend big on a long term goalie solution and 1 prominent winger.

This is the type of strategy that will drive McDavid to request a trade. You cannot waste another year of the best player in the world in his prime. They have money and they should use it to bring in some skill and especially some depth. This doesn’t mean they need to sign anyone to an 8x8 but they need to upgrade.

This looks like the kind of roster that Steve Tambellini might put together.

If this was the actual team, so many Oilers fans would use up all their Canadian Tire money or go without steak over the summer to save up to buy Matthew Tkachuk jerseys.

Thankfully, Tambellini is long-gone.
