<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Steven_Stamkos</b></div><div>Yeah clearly I didn't understand. Sorry I didn't understand a late 80s reference from a team I don't know everything about lol. And, it doesn't make you better. There is no wiggle room on this team if injury occurs. A 20 man roster is not better, regardless of the personnel on the team. I disagree with your point that Severson would be a better fit in the top 4 than Gudas,Mayfield, Soucy. I have no f ing idea why someone would pay Brown close to that kind of money when he played 4 games. You obviously didn't understand what I was saying. Some people are nuts and think he deserves that kind of money after missing an entire season. I.e. he doesn't lol</div></div>
It's not an 80's reference..It's a 2013 reference bud. Fair point on the 20 man roster though. I'll agree to disagree on the defence comment. Not sure where your you're hearing your rumours on Brown I've literally seen no one reputable saying he will get anything close to 3.6M, glad you agree he doesn't deserve that dollar amount.

Not worth a cap dump. Same thing with Feogele who had a really solid playoffs. Yamo is the only one that could go because there are cheaper options who bring what he brings.</div></div>
Hate to trade Foegele after the strong playoffs but need to make cap room to resign Kostin/Bjustad/Ryan/Mcloed. Dumping Yams alone wouldn't be good enough

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Steven_Stamkos</b></div><div>Seems like Severson is a guy Edmonton doesn't need. And I doubt he signs that contract. Someone is gonna pay him likely north of 5 this year for 4 years minimum. He is excellent offensively and very creative. But a lot of people say he is not very good defensively. Truthfully I haven't watched much of him or Ceci this year, but I would think Edmonton is better off going after Radko Gudas, Scott Mayfield or Carson Soucy. Guys they could get for cheaper because they don't provide the offense that a Severson, Klingberg or Ghost provides. Nor do they need more offense. Brown I have no idea. I see people giving him the same contract he had this season but the guy just seems like a question mark or an unnecessary gamble when there are other options in that price range who can be relied upon. Holloway is out of the equation, he's a regular in the lineup IMO and he makes the team better. Lavoie I don't know anything about. The main problem I have is with Severson and the 20 man roster</div></div>
The Severson contract is cheaper than what he can get on the market. However, I was banking on the fact he may want to play top pairing minutes on a real contender. Also helps he's Canadian as well. He would be a huge upgrade over Ceci and would be a better fit in the top 4 versus Gudas/Mayfield/Soucy. Why would someone give Brown 3.6M when he played 4 games in a contract year??? That makes zero sense. He is worth closer to the leaque minimum and has played with Mcdavid in the past so it is worth a gamble imo. Lavoie will be a good addition with skill and size. Although I agree the 20 man roster isn't ideal, we are too close to the cap to make significant improvements without sacrificing something.

Bold Moves is a saying that Oilers Leadership would say in the Craig McTavish era. Clearly you don't understand..Also Oilers core is locked and there's not much cap room available for any upgrades. 20 man roster isn't ideal but makes us better

I could see that happening as well. If we do get a return it would be minimal knowing he still has 2 years left on a contract that isn't ideal

Arizona literally wants picks..They won't be giving them away for Oiler scraps.
Also way too much money for Mcleod and no way Oilers keep Puljujarvi past this season

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vols94</b></div><div>Barrie loses value the second he is not on a PP with 97 and 29. See barrie circa Leafs</div></div>
If Columbus can get a 1st round pick + for Gavrikov (reported asking price) for a UFA who is pretty average overall. I'm pretty sure Barrie who has offensive upside regardless if 97 and 29 fetches a 1st rounder.
Barrie also has term at a reasonable cap hit. Not many defenders with his skill-set.
Leafs just wasn't a good fit. They had Rielly on the PP so his role was diminished. He did great in Colorado.

Oilers Deadline
Ya I could see more being needed to make this happen. My train of thought was the following:
2023 1st round pick (very valuable)
Reid Shaefer (2022 1st round pick)
Raphael Lavoie (decent prospect with hands and size)
Jessie Puljujarvi (cap dump)
Tyson Barrie (Having a great season and SJ flips him for a 1st at the deadline)
Essentially 3 1st round picks + prospect + $3M Cap dump

Question
You have really over valued Koskinen's trade value in those suggestions. I don't think any of those team would ever take him. We will most likely buy him out of ship him out to a team with cap space like Detroit and give them some sort of asset with.
They won't keep Koskinen either as Holland has mentioned he wants to sign Smith. It would be dumb to come back next season with the same duo. A bonafide #1 is needed
Merzilkins would be the best option out there imo but there are good goalies available

Most bridge deals are 2 years. No way Hughes takes 4 year at that value and Vancouver would be smart to lock him up longterm now

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cbzblaze</b></div><div>If you noticed, I don't have klefbom on LTIR. If he's healthy the D is good. If he can't play there's 4 million to add a quality dman.
Everyone is ****ting on Bear these days. Young D go through ups and downs. It's part of their natural progression. He's a better player than he showed this year. I have him on the 1st pair because thats where he's going to play if Barrie isn't resigned. Larsson doesn't pair well with nurse and Bouchard will have to play his way up the lineup.
Koekkoek is ideally suited for bottom pair but can fill in temporarily.
Barrie signed a cheap 1 yr deal and it's gonna get him paid. Someone like galchenyuk might take advantage of being able to play with McDavid or drai to revive his career.
Just because someone makes more money doesn't mean they have to play higher in the lineup. Different guys have different skillets.
McLeod will be sucessfull on whichever line he centers. 2nd, 3rd or 4th. Guy can skate and he works hard.</div></div>
"IF" is a big risk to take on a team with Mcdavid and Drai. Klefbom when healthy but that was a while ago..
Bear is a decent young defensemen but is no where near a top pairing guy yet. He can't replicate Barrie's offensive numbers and is no better defensively. The method you have made moves is just wishful thinking rather than making changes for the better.
Obviously we aren't getting Barrie at the same value anymore..but why not pay him more to stay? He fit well with our group and you wouldn't need to rush Bear into a role he isn't suited for. As for Galchenyuk his career has partly been revived in Toronto..still a gamble on the Oilers banking on him to be a top 6 caliber player again.
Again lots of wishful thinking giving players bigger roles than they are suited. Oilers should be in a playoff threat but with these moves we would barely be a playoff team.
Agree with the salary comment. But if you are signing two UFA's for the same position why would you get someone cheap for your top 6 role and pay someone 3x more to be on your 3rd line?? Literally makes no sense I'd rather spend more on a dependable top 6 winger.
Mcleod is great but don't bury him on the 4th line. You are essentially setting him up for failure in such a limited checking role.

This Defence would be top 5 worst in the league. Why would you promote Bear to the 1st line after the season he has had? Also Koekkoek is a 6/7th defensemen at best.
Other notes to mention:
- Galchenyuk would rather play in Toronto for that amount where he's had success.
- Why would you sign a $3.5M LW to play below the $1M LW you also signed?
- Mcleod won't succeed on the 4th line
