Oh my f*cking god. When he does get back from his suspension, worst case scenario he gets in a fight. Although the habs would gladly take this from Winnipeg if they want to make sure they lose by making stupid lineup decisions.

Agreed that would be an insane lineup decision and the worst case is a fight. My guess it will be a tough guy vs tough guy fight to fulfill "the code".

My suspension length guess is 2 games, which is equivalent to 4 regular season games (what Eakin got for charging a goalie).

I don’t know the last time the NHL has given a player a hearing and not suspended them. (Or if it’s ever happened) He’ll get at least 1 game.

I think he at least has to get one game, because he was assessed a major penalty in the last minute of a game.
That being said, 2 games is my guess.

The major penalty in the last minute unfortunately doesn’t have any effect on his suspension. But yeah, 2 games is probably what he gets.

I never said it was a head hit. It was a terrible charge though. Bennett got suspended a game for charging in the 1st round for way less.

Bennett’s was way worse. He hit him from behind.

I don’t see how the direction matters at all? Scheifele’s was more dangerous and his hit was completely useless in the play. Bennett was hitting to get the puck, whereas Scheifele was taking a run at Evans because he was mad his team lost.

It looked more like Eakin's hit on Lundqvist in 2016. All around bad decision by Scheifele.

All game he will be targeted (within a limit). Sometime you see players stop themselves from a big hit when a player is vulnerable... now they won't do that with Mark Scheifele.

If he gets close to Carey Price he will get a healthy dose of crosscheck. Perry and Anderson will be all over his case. The boys are truly tilted by this grevious attempt to injure one of their own.

The difference is that Wilson wasn't suspended and it was a meaningless game for the Rangers so they could afford to do anything they wanted. Habs can't afford to take silly penalties. After "the code" related fight, the refs won't let targeting slide as they wouldn't want to lose control of the game.
