Absolutely terrible for Ottawa. Dadonov underwhelmed to be sure, but he was still on pace for 20 goals this year, and generally played well despite his lacking production. Ottawa will be a much better team next year and I'd expect Dadonov to bounce back significantly.

The results that got him this contract require Barkov & Huberdeau full time and at best he'll play with young Stutzle in this team it's just gonna be underwhelming

James Neal is a cap dump, he'd cost at least a first to get someone to take him on. Ottawa isn't motivated to get rid of Dadonov despite his down year so taking him back doesnt mean anytihng to Ottawa. Ostap Safin is a C propsect, B at best but still nothing close to a first. Terrible value for Ottawa overall
