Maybe you didn't watch the playoffs but I doubt adding Mitch (vanish) Marner would be considered "all in"

And why would TOR take draft picks

Do all these Marner haters not realize he's the team's highest possession player by far?

i love to see all these oblivious offers for Seth Jones, some that may very well happen lol.
After him out and one of their goalies, Jackets are lining up to be as loaded as the Sens with picks and prospects

I agree. Even though he wasn’t great in the playoffs he’s still a key part of this team. He’s also worth significantly more then a first, second, and two fringe top six forwards lol.

Yeah exactly he's just in a postseason shooting slump in what are tiny sample sizes; dude gives it his all every game and creates A+ chances out the whazoo

Why isn't Hyman getting blame for not finishing 🧐

Flubbed so many quality chances this series

Hawks shouldn't do that trade either. We have zero reason to do a upgrade on winger from Kubalik to Marner (who is damn good in his own right on pace for 25 goals/56 points, while not playing next to a star center or another star winger) while taking on significantly more cap hit and a UFA status while also having to give up a lottery pick, a 2nd rounder and Strome. Way too many holes to plug to worry about an upgrade at winger from a very solid Kubalik to Marner.

Facts for fun, Kubalik's playoff career so far is 8 points (4 goals) in 9 games last year next to Toews. Marners is 25 points (5 goals) in 32 games next to Matthews and JT

>next to Matthews and JT
>JT
>on same line as Matthews and Marner

>Kubalik doen't play with top talent

except he just plays with Toews and Saad on 2nd line vs 2nd line matchups

lololol leave it to a homer to compare a minus QoC relCF% player like Kubalik to a league leader in possession like Marner and even throw in more small sample size and total BS line claims too boot!

Totally Incorrect. Toews, Saad and Kubalik last season including the playoffs played on the top line against the top line matchups. Leave it up to a Leafs fan not to understand simple facts

This year obviously Saad and Toews are gone and Kubalik was playing next to rookies in Suter and Kurashev

My point wasn't kubalik is better so settle down. My point was Kubalik is not too shabby himself and also plays defense. It's not a giant upgrade to Marner, an upgrade but not a giant leap.

There are plenty publishing advanced stats, but those are only a tool to help assess, they aren't perfect and any hockey expert will tell you that. There is a reason why many elite hockey player have come out and said they never pay much of any attention to Corsi or Fenwick. Also a reason why most GM's, scouts and coaches use it as a tool and not the sole truth.

Nobody is lying about anything guy. The facts i shared, points and goals stats, are the facts...right off of NHL.com. The fact is, either you were ignorant or trying to pass off a lie when you mentioned Kubalik - Toews - Saad were a 2nd line, they are the first line. Toews hasn't played on the 2nd line in over a decade; anybody with decent knowledge of the Hawks knows this so either you're ignorant or you know and are lying.

Some of you Leaf fans are so disillusioned, but after 5 first round exits and not winning a playoff series in 18 years I guess will do that to a fan base.

lolollol wow youre so thick... im not a leafs fan at all for 1

and you lying about Kubalik playing top line minutes is hilarious considering you can look that up on those fancy sites!

and you really are sticking with that BS despite his 2020 5v5 TOI being... 11.9mins TOTALLY VS TOP LINE COMPETITION THO

Name calling...wow...really intelligent of you!

Kubalik was moved up the lineup in 2020 midway through his rookie season and played top line in the playoffs with Toews and Saad...that's not the 2nd line. Kubalik's ATOI in the playoffs was 16 minutes flat. His ATOI in January 15:05, February 16:38, March 16:42 in 2020. He started the season in October at 13.27 in 2019 on the 3rd line Coach C deploys the 4th line many times against the competition's 1st line as the 4th line in the hawks system is a defensive line with Kampf as the C and Carps on the RW and rotating cast on the LW; this is most apparent in the D zone faceoffs. Further, kubalik doesn't play the PK.

You clearly don't spend much time watching the Hawks. And Chicago has always been a great hockey city especially back in the old Chicago Stadium before your generation hopped on the bandwagon and spout internet advanced stats instead of having a good understanding of the game, system, matchups and trusting your eyes.

I know you're new here, but your sarcastic 21 comments at people and name calling isn't going to last on this website so take it down a notch and be an adult.

Right, all that time is with PP time... with elite talent.

In '19-20 Cat, Kane, Strome faced the highest QoC for the season. Turns out starting the game with Toews and Saad doesnt preclude the other team from line matching their top players vs Kane/Cat the other 99% of the game.

Whatever you think of systems (of which youre wrong about harking back to 80s hockey line matching instead of zone matching) doesnt change the actual QoC relCF% of a player which is the direct measure of line matching vs possession. Crazy new aged concepts!

All that time is with PP time? Are you crazy? Kubalik who had 30 goals last year and only 4 came as a result of the PP and you think all his time is PP? He wasn't even on the first PP unit! He ranked 9th on the team in ATOI during the PP behind Kane, Cat, Toews, Strome, Gustaffson, Keith, Boqvist, and Shaw...wow guy, you really know the Hawks well!

Further, in even strength, his zone starts were 49.1 offense and 50.9 defense. Kane and Cat were 57.2/42.8 and 58.3/41.7 comparably.

LMAO, so that is how you determined who is playing first line through 4th line is QoC? LMAO And you think hockey isn't about line matching AND zone matching both? You're out of your mind if you don't understand the role of both. You don't think when the opposing team doesn't see Kane and Cat hit the ice they are deploying their 1st line against them and all the same Hawks counter with their 1st or 4th line? It's a game of strategic matchups constantly throughout the game that includes both line and zone matching period, but no way shape or form does that determine who is 1st line, 2nd line and so forth. Get your ass of the internet and watch the games, the eyes don't lie, but what can lead to incorrect assumptions are advanced analytics and why they are highly debated as to the true effectiveness of them and why most pros don't rely solely on them like you are trying to do as you clearly didn't watch the Hawks closely and saw the evolution of Kubalik midway through the season into the first line player who didn't rely on PP time.

I know you millennials think all your answers on the internet, but here's one of many good articles arguing that advanced analytics are far from the be all to end all and your lack of knowledge here is proving that. Enjoy the read..

ololol not a leafs fan or a millennial, nice try again papito

learn the difference between the word 'with' vs 'only' in reference to his PP time

and wow, you know you can also cross reference QoC relCF with a dude's Line Combo and get to the point of that long winded rant of an article

the arguement was based around Kubalik's QoC because we agreed he played mostly with Saad/Toews so his QoT is irrelevant
