Flames say no, need a 1C coming back for Tkachuk, I just don’t think Toronto and Calgary are good trading partners.

bennett > mikheyev (at least in Florida so far)
I just don't get the reasoning behind these trades, why would we do this?

Tkachuk only gets moved for Eichel, Coleman gets 4 x $4,000,000 and Glendeing 2 x $2,000,000 not those low ball offers.

In total you’re about $6-7million short on the Bennett, Coleman, Hyman, and Glendening contracts. This is pretty delusional. Hyman is going to walk this year and Leaf fans just don’t want to admit it to themselves!

I think all those early contrast models are going to be wrong, until the cap situation is confirmed. Can easily see those contracts be reduced by 1-2’m aav by the time ufa starts

Friedman said on his last podcast he got a text from someone who thinks the cap could be flat for 5 years.

I full-heartedly agree that some of these models may be aiming high. But, it is sometimes easier to just cite a trusted 3rd party than nitpick over each contract.

Also, the league-wide salary cap that is in place now will go up next season. But after that, there will likely be a freeze for cap for few years, but what needs to be resolved are (a) LTIR rules (b) escrow release and (c) triggers for compliance buy-out.

for sure, I just see them as worse case scenerios for their contract values. Even without a flat cap they are historically a little higher than what is signed, especially last year

I dont see any Compliance buyouts, they would have to amend a freshly ratified CBA, not sure what htey do, but cant see the NHLPA agreeing to players being bought out and probably for most ending their careers

I think if cap were to shrink, a CBO arrangement would be to players benefit. Especially its swapped for escrow deal.
