Description
Its my firm belief that Dubas will make room for hyman, even if its a high cap hit. I believe he will get around 5-6mill x4-6 years. So, I will base his contract on the high end.

Moving Kerfoot is $3.5M in cap space for 2 seasons. But nice math there bud.

The difference in cap hit between holl and kerfoot is 1.5 mill bud, thats also about the increase in salary that hyman will get, bud.
Good maths bud

Holl isn't going anywhere regardless. He'll be protected. Why wouldn't he? Leafs didn't move him when Babcock didn't play him, they're not letting him walk for nothing. It's with Kerfoot or Dermott that will be taken be Seattle. So either $3.5M gone in Kerfoot or under $1M in Dermott.

But great logic. Lose a top 4 right handed defenceman when they don't have any other one in their system 😂

JVR and Hayes are both 3rd line players. Screw the positional argument. It's still $7M for a third line player.

Actually Hayes is a perfectly fine 2C and those guys were signed pre flat cap but you are signing a 3rd liner to 1st liner money in a flat cap situation...massive YIKES!

And what happens if they take kerfoot? The leafs need a 3c, or a winger who can play in the top 6, where does that cash come from? They certainly dont have a guy in the system that can do that for sure

Exactly what Blues fans kept saying all last year about Pietrangelo. It happens.

On a contending team, Hayes is nothing more than a 3rd liner. A highly overpaid one. Yikes.

Except one is an exceptional talent and one is a 3rd line winger.

Someone is big mad that the Leafs are 1 of 2 teams that haven't won a playoff series in the cap era. Maybe someday you will be a contender...

... Riley Nash. Who Keefe's said he's liked since the bubble last season and wants a shutdown 3C. Nash currently makes $2.75M and in a flat cap and after a season which his offensive numbers went down, that cap hit likely comes down below $2M.

Need a top 6 winger? Dubas has shown he's able to get guys on lower contracts and bring in guys that need a change of scenery. Galchenyuk did fine there. Could easily be back next season for right around the same contract value. Then you've got all 3 (Hyman, 3C, top 6 LW) under the cap easily.

😂 you realize Philadelphia hasn't made the playoffs in back to back season in over 10 years right? Leafs have made it 5 straight years. And since 2015-16, sure Flyers have more "round wins" but what has that gotten you? In that same time, Philadelphia has 11 playoff game wins, Toronto has 10.

Wouldn't say you're in any position to be chirping kid. Flyers are the definition of a inconsistent joke 😂

Well unless you win the Cup, round wins doesn't really get you anything right...but that still doesn't negate the fact that the Leafs haven't won a round in the cap era and haven't even had a sniff at the Cup since 1967 (that means they haven't even made the finals). Talk about a joke of a franchise...

Flyers haven't won a cup since 1975 😂

& who cares if they haven't made the cup final. Like you said, if you don't win it all it doesn't mean anything 😂

No, that's your stance...I am very much under the stance that if you are doing something in the playoffs, it is good for the franchise. Only 1 team every year can win it all but multiple teams can actually have good years.

if you don't win, you've failed your goal. That's the bottom line. Doesn't matter if it's 1st round or game 7 in the cup finals. A loss is a loss

I would guarantee that the majority of NHL GMs would disagree with that statement.

But in reality he is a 3rd liner no matter where they play him...maybe a fringe 2nd liner. For an extra few K you could probably sign Taylor Hall who is an actual top line player.

43gp 15G 18A and +19 .. 5th on the team in goal and 6th in points... those are third liner numbers all day. If you have ever watched more than a couple of games, you would understand his value. I would sign him over Hall this summer for to a 6 mill contract.

Oh I watch and he is a ball of energy but he is NOT a top 6F, he is a 3rd line energy guy! If he didn't play with 2 elite players he wouldn't have even close to the production he does.
