I don’t think Nyquist is enough of an upgrade on Dadonov to warrant losing L. Brown. I’d rather just keep Dadonov tbh, I don’t think we need to mess with that spot (he still scored at around a 20 goal pace, and I doubt his assists will remain abysmal, he should bounce back and be fine on the 2nd line).

I pretty much like the rest of it. I don’t think we’ll have to give up anything to incentivize Seattle to take Tierney though, there are a lot better D available than centres, and I doubt they’d have much interest in a guy that doesn’t crack Ottawa’s lineup every night when other teams 4th or 5th best D are available. Not to mention JBD will be our 3RD next year anyway imo. I never hate signing more D depth and the Calgary trade works for me for both teams (if Calgary is looking for a shakeup/cut some cap to maybe make a significant add like Eichel or Reinhart). Dunno if the pick swap means anything though lol

CBJ would likely take that deal.

Nyquist is a consistent contributor - a guy who can give 40-50 points even on a bad team. I know Dadonov had an inconsistent first year in OTT, and it’s reasonable to wonder how much of his production was a result of an offensive-minded FLA team, but hey, we’d take it.

And yeah, same goes for Logan Brown. CBJ wouldn’t mind rolling the dice to see if he can find his form. Particularly as CBJ look to be taking a step back as OTT looks to take a step forward.

Not sure Brady is gonna get an 8x8. Sure hes good, but I don't see him getting more then someone like Johnny Gaudreau. Plus, it makes sense for this team to try and squeeze lots of players and save as much money as possible, as in a couple years it wouldn't be hard to end up in Cap Hell

This is a pretty good take, but I just don’t think Brady’s the guy they squeeze. He’s likely gonna be the captain so it makes sense to give him a decent $ amount now to get him locked up through the majority of his prime (especially because he had the potential to be the next elite power forward a la Ovie/Benn, he shoots constantly and hits everything that moves). If they CAN save a bit then sure, but if they have to go up to an 8mil aav to get the 8 year term there are definitely worse contracts out there. Guys like Batherson/Norris/Brannstrom are more likely the tier they try to get at a more affordable level. Stutzle will get all the money he wants if he continues to develop into a superstar lol

Brady also seems like a good guy though, he might understand the situation and do what MacKinnon did and take a team friendly deal, so if he does this you might be able to get him down to around a 7m aav.

A few points:

1) I'm assuming JBD will be on the big club next year meaning there isn't a need to sign KoekkoeK and puts J. Brown as the 7th Dman.
2) If Ottawa could swing that trade with Calgary that would be awesome. White has effectively been pushed out of the Sens' top 6 plans by Norris and Pinto and having a 4.75m AAV player on the third line isn't good for the internal budget. Ours and their first will be pretty similar so I'm not sure there's a need to swap picks.
3) Nyquist isn't a big enough of an upgrade on Dadonov to warrant adding L. Brown. I'm not opposed to trading for Nyquist, I just think the value is off. Also, I may be the last Sens fan who is still holding out hope that Brown will be able to put it together and become the NHL player we all thought he could be.
4) I also think there's a better chance that Ottawa loses Daccord or Gustavsson (whomever they leave unprotected) than Tierney or J. Brown.
