Why does Gourde waive his NTC to Vancouver?
Hamilton doesn't hit the Market Carolina signs him 8x8 and he only can sign the 8 if he does before he officially becomes an UFA

Who are they dumping them? They are ~$5mil over the cap for next year and still have RFAs to sign and fill out the bottom of the roster with depth? They are going to have to dump ~6.5-7mil to get under the cap. And they don’t have the draft capital to get Seattle to take anything so it’s either a deal like this or paying some valuable assets to take Johnson..? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Where is this expressly forbidden? I haven’t seen it stated in anything I’ve read?

Why does Gourde waive his NTC to Vancouver?

Honestly, I picked Gourde because he would be the best fit in Vancouver. Whether he would waive or not wasn’t considered.

But like I said before, TBL will need to clear at least 6-7.5mil in cap space, and they may need to explore a salary dump of some kind.
Who do you think would get moved? Cirelli? Palat? Johnson? Point? Killorn? McDonagh?

I’m honestly surprized taking a 3rd for parking a guy for the expansion is the biggest concern with this roaster besides some TBL fans not wanting to give up Gourde... Not that I would want to give him up either. 🤷🏻‍♂️

But seriously, Dougie for 9.5x6, EP40 for 9.5x10, and QH43 for 6.5x3 gets no feedback? 🤔

Johnson to Seattle with Picks and Prospects.
    Shop Killorn for a 2nd.

If Tampa does have to pay to dump someone they're in too tight of a spot to retain on anyone. Plus Gourde has been a force for Tampa this year. He's probably the guy they end up hanging onto.

I dont know/pay attention enough about VAN to comment on any of that, I just saw a COL logo so I clicked

But I dont think the league would approve multiple trades in order to have one team protect another teams player and then give him back

its in the rules, a team can not require a player for 1 full calendar year prior to the Expansion draft

flawed logic.... with the separate divisions and no Kucherov, Gourde's numbers have been inflated. this deal still isn't worth it but lets not blow up gourde's value.

Jbb does what he can to rid himself of tgat McDonagh contract then give Johnson to Seattle retaining a million or so for a duffle bag full of pucks

I could care less what you think his value is. The only player on the Lightning who scored more 5on5 points was Point, and the rest of the team played the same opponent this 56 game 1-division schedule season. A team has to be able to produce at even strength. So like I said, he's not being dumped anywhere.

What Picks tho? TBL doesn’t have a 1st, 2nd or 4th this year and don’t have a 2nd or 3rd next year. It’ll take something like Foote+ the 2021 3rd to take Johnson over Cirelli or Cernak depending on who they protect. Still won’t free up enough cap space for next year... 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s been discussed as a strength of the Canucks going into the expansion to be able to make such moves. If it’s not the case, it’s a pick that has no real bearing on the roster posted here. I can share some arrivals in the athletic discussing it if you like. smile

So you are giving up quality prospects by unloading McD and getting SEA to take Johnson? That won’t be cheaper in terms of the future of the team... 🤷🏻‍♂️

this deal still isn't worth it but lets not blow up gourde's value.

The deal is leveraging the cap crunch TBL is in. Nobody thought Vancouver could have pulled Schmidt for a 3rd last year, nor predicted that VGK would try to unload Fleury with a 2020 2nd with no takers.

they still will have to clear 2-3 of their 4-6mil contracts to resign their RFAs and fill out their roster. CHI had to unload plenty of players during their dynasty run... they didn’t have a expansion to contend with... 🤷🏻‍♂️

A team can not trade a player to another team to stash them on their expansion list and then have that player traded back to the original team "for a stashing away fee". That player can only be traded back to its original team after 1 calendar year...or you know the rules

Yeah Tampa laughs and hangs up. Johnson is very likely traded to one of the 20 teams he has to submit a list for, with slight retention and a pick/prospect combo, or he’s bought out. If Tampa plans on keeping McDonagh then Johnson could be moved to Seattle as well, but Tampa should work with Seattle to have them take McD so they can re-sign Savard and have a more balanced D. One of Killorn or Palat gets traded for value, and maybe Tampa moves a smaller piece like Rutta if they need the cap. Tampa has plenty of other prospects that teams may be interested in, depending on the team. It’s far from just Foote that could be used to move Johnson or McD, if needed. Brisebois would quickly decline and move to a real trade negotiation.
