I don't think Dunn is worth that. STL can lose him to the expansion draft as well.

But why do that Byron trade? The difference between Allen and Primeau isn’t large, and Byron’s a better player than Glendening. By letting Seattle take Allen and not signing Glendening, you’re saving money while not making the team worse, and also not giving away Struble and a 2nd for no reason at all.

Also, there’s no chance LeGuerrier ends up with an ELC with the habs.

Good questions. First, Byron has a hefty contract so I think it's best to manoeuver without it hence the trade. Second, management already said that Primeau needs more time in the AHL to develop so I believe they won't push him to be the backup just yet. Third, you are right that Glendening < Byron but he is there to help with faceoffs as Evans is not there yet while we struggled as a team mightily in the faceoff dot. Fourth, LeGuerrier may not get one, I just thought perhaps he would given that Struble is now out of the equation. Also, I do not see Ikonen getting an ELC either. What are your thoughts?

The Blues aren;t doing that. Kulak is of no interest.

I can understand that people think that Primeau isn’t ready. Although in that case I’d rather get a normal backup for free as a UFA rather than effectively giving up Struble to bring Allen back. I’d rather use those assets (cap space and picks/prospects) elsewhere, because in the end the backup goalie spot won’t end up meaning that much.

And I do think that Evans is ready. If he isn’t ready now, he never will be. He is pretty good at faceoffs, honestly as of late the only player who hasn’t been good at face offs is Suzuki, but adding Glendening does nothing to improve on Suzuki.

I agree about Ikonen not getting an ELC. LeGuerrier has had a look with Laval this year, but he’s behind in the depth chart of everyone on an NHL contract and with limited upside. Plus the team has so many LHD prospects (Norlinder, Harris, Guhle) that they’re probably fine without replacing Struble.
