I’d rather the Wild build a package around Hayton and a 2nd for Dumba. I don’t think the Wild can handle Schmaltz’s cap long term.

Fair. That’s one of the trades I saw and stole. I’d love to get bear tho

No thanks. If that’s the cost Minnesota can lose Dumba for free to Seattle

Eh. Gardiner in a sheltered role doesn’t scare me, and I like Bokk and a 2nd coming back too. Capobianco hasn’t been able to make it work in the NHL yet and I think his time with the organization may be coming to an end

I’m really not sure why this is the logic around here. I’d rather have Dumba than any of the exposed forwards in a 4-4-1 scenario. I’m not saying Guerin won’t expose him, but I’d say it’s terrible asset management if he does.

I have seen enough of Schmaltz at this point to know I have no interest in him and I hope Guerin has seen it as well. Dumba is the better player and I would rather have the 6 million in cap space over Schmaltz. Which is a terrible waste of a asset I know.

I think people are over looking the cap issue here. Dumba is probably slightly overpaid for his role but not by much and his term is reasonable for a team to feasibly game out the next couple years. Schmaltz *IS* overpaid with more term. I think Schmaltz is still a top 6 player but his cap hit makes him much less desirable.

I guess if you’re okay with losing Greenway it’s not a huge issue. The whole rationale behind the trade would be to help Minnesota out by not losing Greenway and getting something for Dumba. I’m not necessarily super interested in Dumba for the Coyotes in a vacuum, and definitely not if the ask is Hayton and a second

I mean he would be the most talented offensive center the Wild would have if they made this trade. He’s streaky as hell but I think that could be mitigated if he had better players around him. Like I said above this move would only really work if Guerin was going to expose (and lose) Dumba in expansion draft. Getting something is better than nothing. Don’t doubt Dumba is the better (at least more consistent) player though.

I am fine losing Greenway, he’s a 3rd line wing and we have young guys that can take his spot. I also think holding Hayton is the smart money but that would be my price for Dumba.
