Look Schwartz is a fine player. However, the reality is it's a buyer's market. There are more buyers than sellers and despite whatever fans want based deals from Christmas er I mean deadlines past, the market is not that. There are better players available than Schwartz and Bozak is about 4 million dollars overpaid. So with all that said, if you want a pre Covid deadline trade value, you aren't getting it. It doesn't matter how much you pump Schwartz's tires, it's just not the world we live in right now. You want that return, cool, have a nice day. Teams can demand high prices right up until Monday and of they don't budge someone else will. When you have more sellers than buyers, who do you think will budge first?

The issue here is your value of Schwartz comparatively to Palmieri. Schwartz is the better player here. Both players, Schwartz and Bozak at retained salary, is worth at the very least what Palmieri and Zajac (who is also 4 mil overpaid) got and someone is more than willing to pay for it.
Now, I dont think Toronto take that deal. Why? Well between quarantine and cap issues, it doesn't make sense for Toronto to do, but that's the value and the market set by the Devils trade. The issue you and I have is your dismissive attitude towards Schwartz and his play.

Zajac is much better than Bozak. Palmieri was also more sought after. In any case, prepare to get less than you think you should.

Zajac, while having a better year than Bozak this year, is overall not a better player. Bozak also had a major concussion this year. Palmieri was more "sought after" because Schwartz isn't even on the market while Palmieri was. This is also why Hoffman is on top 5 trade bait board ahead of Schwartz.
