I think it's an L - a late 1st in what's called a below average draft. Personally, I need to sit back and digest the Zajac move because I wasn't expecting it. What's missing from this deal is a reasonable prospect. A lot of AGMs had a 2nd and Bellows or Wilde coming back, so I think it's fair to say that we had overestimated both Palms' and Zajac's individual and collective value. I still need a little time, but this feels like an L.

Sure, it's a little less than expected. Now the problem is being torn on rooting for a deep playoff run for these guys (plus Greene) or a better pick! I feel like this is such a Devils problem, btw.

I think the first for palmieri retained would have been a good return. That basically makes it zajac retained for a 4th which is rough for the devils. Not terrible but they’re pending ufas and can’t really change the market.

I want them to win a cup. Greene, Zajac, and Palms deserve it

Zajac would have fetched a 3rd so Greer + 4th seems fine. I still think we could have gotten more but it's fair for both sides

This trade isn't as bad as you think. Getting a 1st and 4th for Palmieri and Zajac may seem a little low but it isn't horrible. Much better than getting a 2nd for Hall

The irony will be when Fitzy re-signs both in off-season.

I think the Isles weren't welling to pay a 1st for Palmieri, and the only way to get a 1st was NJ throwing Zajac. NJ really needed that 1st so they took it. Good for both team, NJ got their first, Islanders got quality for the playoffs
