Description
I think a Bennett trade gets done either at the Draft or just before the Expansion Draft.
JG might get traded at the Draft but it all depends etc.

I'm assuming this would be to relieve cap for the extensions of Dube and Valimaki

Going to have to find another team for Ritchie. Leafs have lots of bottom 6 forwards and don't have cap space to scratch him.

Maybe they send another one back. I read somewhere that the Leafs were interested in him but they are always reportedly interested in loads of players. He’s be a decent fit since they need toughness for the playoffs.

Need toughness but they still need to actually be able to play hockey. Sadly Ritchie isn't one of those. When people are talking about needing toughness, they arn't talking about a guy who will play 5 minutes a game on the 4th line.

I would hope Holland doesn’t piss away another second like that.

I’d actually bet that Holland goes for a far cheaper option like Boyd. He’s in a tough spot because he’s got zero cap space and precious few draft picks. But they have an opportunity to do some damage this year. Athanasiou was a huge risk that did not come close to panning out. I just think Derek Ryan fits their needs right now.

Didn't Ryan clear waivers earlier this year? Yes I know that lots of good players are clearing this year because of the difficulty of taking on a contract without moving money out, but I don't think Ryan is in that camp.

He is irrelevant in games that I have seen him in and I don't think he is that good. Most I would move is a 7th + Turris/Chaisson for cap reasons. Not a chance you get a 2nd for him

Chiasson id rather keep over Ryan not to knock Ryan but I see chiasson as a more useful playoff contributor. I’d actually rather Ryan over turris but even that might not be wise for oilers to do considering turris might be more useful to hold onto for expansion exposure. Personally have nothing against Ryan just don’t exactly see how to make this deal and if it’s worth considering at all would Ryan be any better in the line up than haas or jj? Honestly from what I’ve seen of Ryan kinda just seems like adding another turris except believe his deal is expiring so not even exposure candidate which we do need a few. Every way I try to make sense of this for oilers kinda just seems like shooting self in foot one way or another.

AA at least had a history of scoring goals on a horrible team and brought a lot of speed that gamble obviously didn’t pay off but could understand what Holland was trying to get out of it. A second for Ryan just don’t see what Holland is looking to get out of Ryan that he isn’t getting out of current group
