Description
Not saying any of the moves would be made or that they should be made. I also am not going to argue the individual value of the trades. I will attempt to at least give fair value. This one is just to pose the question should we go all in now?

Yes, to the first two, but for what reason would the Habs move Edmundson for PK and his salary when Edmundson is legitimately a way better D at this point in their careers?

I was confused about that too.

But it would be cool to see PK back with the habs for a playoff push or two.

The reason is RHD depth, if Weber or Petry go down in the playoffs we will be relying on someone moving to the offside and\or playing above their abilities. Subban would solve that and is still a very good player.

Projected to be a top 4 puck moving D man, exactly the type of D man Montreal needs right now lol. He had 19 points in 19 games in the NCAA this year.

With Caufield coming soon, we dont need Garland... hes good, but we dont need him. And who would you discard from the PP?

I would target a D, Chychrun if possiblr

You are missing the point, the question is, Is now the time to go all in? Would you be willing to move prospect not in the NHL and not named Caufield to take a run at the cup?

Garland would be a great fit on the Habs long term. Only concern is for this year; you better do this trade now if you want him for a playoff push. Otherwise he’ll miss a good chunk of time with a quarantine.

Otherwise, I don’t think you’re winning a trade to get Subban back and Ekholm to MTL just doesn’t seem like a good fit imo. Plus it sounds like Nashville really wants a 1st round pick back, I think they’d balk at this offer

Yeah, but there is the risk of him electing to become a FA next year with him going back for his senior year and the amount of LHD depth MTL has

Not really, 1. He said leading up to the draft that his education was really important to his family (even before he knew where he was going). 2. I have heard that the 14 day quarantine played a part in his decision to return to Northeastern. 3. He claims to still be committed to the Habs future.

Yes I would, but I would target the right target. Garlanf isnt one of them since he will need a big raise soon and is replacable with Caufield. Add a first to that package and target Chuchrun. Elite line up right there :

Tatar-Danault-Gally
Drouin-Suzuki-Anderson
Toffoli-KK-Caufield
Lehkonen-Evans-Perry

Chychrun-Weber
Edmundson-Petry
Chiarot-Romanov

I would still rather move one of Chiarot or Edmundson for a depth RHD like Subban who can step up into the top 4 if either Weber or Petry get injured. That would also slide Romanov back to his natural side.

Does not have to be Subban just a cheap to acquire RHD capable of playing top 4 minutes if Weber or Petry get hurt.

I wouldn’t trade prospects for a playoff run, not this year, with quarantine and everything it would be a mess, but next year I could see us making moves

IMO next year is too late, if you buy now you could make 2 solid runs at the cup and it probably costs less this year than it will next year due to the number of star players having off years. Next year they just might bounce back. Plus this year the playoff picture is pretty clear that there are not a lot of buyers with covid and everything else but next year there will likely be bidding wars on many of these players.
