MTL don’t want Beaulieu
The only trade I could see is Thompson to MTL for a late 5th

If the Jets need to give up Stanley in the deal for Ekholm they should walk away. Stanley looks pretty good. Armia would be alright, but isn't needed and shouldn't require a 3rd and Beaulieu. Besides the Jets need to keep as much defensive depth as they can. The 3rd trade is a huge price to pay to downgrade the lineup for the Jets.

You are absolutely correct he wouldn't require a 3rd and Beaulieu. We don't want Beaulieu we had him and traded him for a reason. The price would be a 2nd maybe a 2nd and 3rd.

I guess the thought process is if Ekholm is acquired then Jets protect Ekholm, Morrissey and Pionk on the back end. Then Seattle is likely to choose Stanley or one of Appleton/Copp/Lowry in the expansion draft. So if Stanley is traded, then the Jets don't lose a defenseman for nothing. The alternative would be to not trade Stanley and make a side deal (1st round pick swap and a 3rd worked last time).

If you are curious, moving back in the 1st round from 13 to 24 resulted in Vegas drafting Suzuki and the Jets drafting Vesalainen. Assuming the Jets make the playoffs, a similar pick swap could move the Jets out of the first round and into the 2nd.

And the habs would only do that if they didn’t care about making the playoffs, which they obviously do.

Jets need to get rid of Wheeler.

Sheif should be captain.

Flat cap for the foreseeable future, an upcoming XD with limited protection spots and most teams have mandated internal budgets and salary caps, sometimes much lower than the NHLs already stagnant cap and the possibility of losing said player for 2-3 weeks for Covid protocols, I just don’t see how Nashville can expect a Muzzin type return.

Yeah, I understand the thought process. To me the only deal worth thinking about is the Ekholm one. As far as Stanley is concerned, I don't see a draft and develop team like Winnipeg giving away a prospect that they've invested a lot of development time into just when he's starting to show promise, for basically a 30 year old rental for a year and a bit. Unless that was Jets management's thinking all along with developing Stanley. If the deal can't be made with the first and lesser prospects I think Winnipeg will bow out.

That is not a “muzzin equivalent”. That is much more. Stanley>>durzi. Vesalainen>>grundstrom

A muzzin equivalent from the jets would be harkins = grundstrom and gawanke of another b defensive prospect.

Wheeler's look pretty brutal as of late, but they wont get rid of him. Pretty terrible contract to move and we all know that Maruce loves his boy Blake too much. Maurice needs to send a message though...honestly Appleton has bee busting his butt all year on both ends of the ice and should be rewarded with at least a period in the top 6. Wheeler has been up and down with his play but still gets top PP and top line minutes...just put him on the 3rd line for a bit
