But how does this justify giving up one of the best prospects in hockey and adding more on top of that?

To win the cup you have to make sacrifices and everyone opinion varies on prospects .. you might see him as the lord in savior but no one knows if his talents will translate well in the NHL ... Just look at Kakko that went 2nd overall and had a better season then Lundell did on his draft year. Teams always takes risks getting prospects.

I don’t think we should make these trades, not yet at least. Let’s see how Chytil continues to develop and if Kakko or Kravtsov even show they’re ready for a top 6 role. Buch has been great but we’ve got nothing in terms of top talent behind Kakko and Kravtsov. I’d be hesitant trading Buch till we know those guys are sure things.

I wouldn't do this.

Buch has the same on-ice value going back to last season as Huberdeau... Florida wouldn't accept so little for Huberdeau.

Moving up from #22 to #19 to get Schneider was very doable , moving up to #12 to get Lundell from #22 ... would have required a lot more & likely a roster player, likely Buchnevich, oddly enough.

Buchnevich, DeAngelo, Strome - were all apparently on the market over the summer.
