Karlsson said he's not interested in a rebuild with the Sharks so bad contracts get swapped

And waives to a team in a rebuild? That's worse then the sharks? Yea right
No he quite literally didn’t say that. Go to Kevin Kurz Twitter and you’ll understand the situation.
To paraphrase.
Erik Karlsson came here to a successful team - with a successful first season. He signed assuming this team was a cup contender. He said he’s frustrated with the direction the team fell into. He said the whole team is and really rightfully so. The whole organization is frustrated as they should be. Not that he wants to leave or is pissed off but saying quite literally the obvious
“It’s frustrating to be in a situation of cup contender -> bottom feeder”.
He did not say trade me. He did not say this is bull. He did not say I want to leave.
ADDITIONALLY;
This trade is brutal for the Sharks. @ everyone trading Karlsson.
It’s not going to happen because he’s a valuable member of the sharks. Just cause you don’t like his contract doesn’t mean were going to trade him for negative value.
Karlsson quite literally has been amazing recently and while coaches say it all the time; he really has figured out his game.
He was good at the start, hit a bump - sat out due to injury, and has returned to an amazing player for the last couple weeks.
Trading Karlsson either happens with a value return (which is unlikely due to his contract) - or it doesn’t at all because it’s not worth it. We don’t need money, and we aren’t struggling for cap space.
