Too much for debrusk and doesn’t fit Boston’s needs. Way too much for Savard. I will stick with Holl. The Arizona trade is brain dead and Hyman is not a centre.

He's going to back to his old ways when he got his contract extension and playing poorly. I don't trust him if Muzzin is hurt and needs to be paired with Dermott

He played great with Dermott already this year. Muzzin hasn’t been good since coming back, not going to blame him since he has a broken face and can’t see his feet with the full visor.

I still don't trust Holl taking over when Muzzin is injured. The pairing with Dermott was ok, but were they effective and noticeable? No. In a game 7, Muzzin is injured, and you need to hold a one goal lead for the last 30 seconds. Are you going with a Dermott - Holl pairing or a Dermott - Savard pairing?

Meanwhile, Boston, a cup contender, would want those quality "worse" players

Don't know how you think these trades help the Leafs this year, and they certainly are horrendous giving away all those futures.

I see trades for the these great Columbus Dman and goalies coming to the Leafs. Savard, Werenski, Jones so much better than any Leaf Dmen. Leafs 7th in GAA, Columbus 24th. Leafs a plus one per game in goal differential, Columbus minus .75 per game. Yeah, lets trade equal value players and throw in bunch of futures too.

Cup contender Boston is having to battle to keep a playoff spot while debrusk is being scratched.

Leafs seem to be playing fairly well. I don’t understand the mentality of acquiring struggling players.

I think you're better off with Hyman at LW and Kerfoot at C than with Hyman at C and DeBrusk at LW, plus you're better off going 8 + 1 in the expansion draft in order to keep Holl so that you have 4 actually qualified defensemen in the fold before you start the off-season, plus you'd also have two more first-round draft picks. @A123 's idea of Dermott and a 2022 makes some sense, because there's plenty of time to get a future first, but the rest of this doesn't really appeal to me.

If we are going to add someone I think you have to go big or cheap. This is neither.

Adding a Rackell (who has pulled his socks up) or forsberg type player may be worth having to expose Holl or make a trade with Seattle.

On the other hand you could go cheaper like iafollo or granlund.

I’m good with either approach or even no move at all so long as the price makes sense.

Yeah, to me, the scheme shown here has little upside and lots of downside. Losing Kerfoot and having to expose Holl in order to acquire DeBrusk doesn't strike me as ending up on the plus side of the ledger, and that's without even factoring in the cost of your 2021 first and an expansion-draft-exempt young RD who may be NHL-ready next season. Savard isn't a bad idea in the abstract, but exchanging a couple of seasons of Holl for half of a 56-game season of Savard doesn't appeal to me much, either -- and again, there's the not insignificant expense of a high draft pick (even if it's only a second, which I think is truer value).
