I mean they weren't even interested before season started. Don't know if sean Monahan has issues, or analytics is playing to Guerin decision, but he didn't trade for trocheck either. There was a report Toronto was interested, & at one point ask was nylander, but at some point Guerin walked away.

I remember reading back to trocheck trade last deadline that Guerin wasn't interested in trading dumba for nylander. Whether it was or work by Guerin, who knows

I kinda like the idea but I think the Wild would need to get a better future out of the deal here. Say a 1st or Pelletier, obviously they’d add but IDK what.

I think Monahan fits better than some people think with Fiala and it would allow Ek to play with KK and Zuccarello. It puts Rossi into a position of playing his way into the top 6 and then Monahan could get a nice asset or 2 if he was dealt after next year. All this is in addition to the easier expansion plan and less term on his contract. It’s not as crazy as people make it out to be.

Every wild fan wants Monahan, or trocheck. I am just very curious what / does the front office know that they aren't sharing?

No one's making it out to be crazy or acting like Monahan wouldn't help short term. You just don't trade for an asset that you're know you're going to be moving on from in a year if you're not going to be a legit contender in that year. Monahan isn't going to win us a Cup next year, so instead of taking on a depreciating asset for your depreciating asset, you flip your own depreciating asset for appreciating assets, and you're better off long term. You're going to get better future pieces for Dumba this year than you will for Monahan next year.

Monahan isn’t the no brainer guy you move Dumba for, especially when he was at his lowest value. Monahan is a good top 6 center that can play net front with a playmaker like Gaudreau and is dependent on that player. I’d guess that’s the hold up more than anything else, aside from the fact that it didn’t clear any cap space. My light reading into Monahan is that he isn’t a great 200 ft player and maybe that played into the rumors but there are a lot of reasons to like Monahan on the Wild.
