Bruins fans on cap friendly will say no but imo this trade works, maybe an overpay by EDM

I know it is a bit of an overpayment but that is only why the oilers would get him because isn't rebuilding and aren't looking to trade players.

How does this deal help Boston?

Larsson - Pending UFA and would be our 3RD when we're healthy
Samorukov - LHD which Boston has quite a few of
Picks - ya their nice, but even if you hit those pieces are most likely 3-5 years from making the NHL

There just really anything here that makes me want to trade a young scoring winger that shown to be able to put up 20+ a year.

Definitely agree. I think its a solid attempt, but there's not a lot that fills BOS needs. I like Samorukov but young LHD is a surplus.

If you’d be willing to switch Samorukov to a forward prospect of a similar caliber then I think I’d love the deal. I understand where my fellow Bruins fans are coming from when saying that Larson is a 3rd pair guy at best on our team, but with Carlo injured and Miller always out he’s exactly the type of guy that could be clutch to have come playoff time. The picks are nice too.
