No, Nielsen’s contract isn’t a burden and actually aids us in hitting the floor next year.

Cancel culture at its finest. Georgiev butchers the puck in OT, punches DeAngelo when he gets called out for it, and Tony is the one cut. But, that's OK because DeAngelo was outspoken for Trump.

Stop whining about cancel culture. This isn’t cancel culture. This is the free market economy. The rangers don’t think he helps their business, so he’s done.

Not whining, it straight up is. If the Rangers business is scoring on the power play, than he obviously helps them. He wasn't the one that initiated the physical side of the altercation, but he takes the fall. By all accounts he was a great locker room guy, and I can tell you he was good in the community too.

Bahahaha. I get it. You want to like him. All accounts he was a horrible person that everyone hated.

Private companies can fire people if they’re bad for the company. That’s not cancel culture. That’s being bad at your job. The term cancel culture is just a weak excuse for people that are upset that their actions have consequences.

True, I want to like him. Skilled and took no ****. The Rangers need that. He was not a horrible person with the kids he worked with and if you read between the lines, many of his his team mates were not happy about how things played out. And if you want to be dismissive of how cancel culture has infected free thought, than I suggest reading a little bit of history. It repeats itself.

Dang I just wanted to see what Tony D would look like in Detroit. Didn't expect this.

Also @bhavikp27 is that same price what you think Sweeney would pay for Nemeth?

Depending on his level of play, a 2nd or 3rd. DET probably get a 2nd since #4-5 D like Nemeth are often in demand at the deadline.

If DeAngelo calls out his goalie for a mistake that's called not being a good teammate. If this was the first time it happened I'm sure calmer heads would have prevailed. Obviously it wasn't his first discretion so he's gone. Not cancel culture. It's business like Bcarlo25 said.

He got suspended for using bigoted language. Twice.

Companies are allowed to fire people that are bad for the success of the company. Pretty anti-capitalist to suggest otherwise.

As far as Tony's comments go, they weren't anything that we didn't laugh at in Slapshot just a short time ago. (Do we cancel Slapshot too?) However, times are different. I'm not going to justify disrespecting people. Overall, we need to be better to one another..... This instance with Tony that got him cut was not related to that. Georgiev made a terrible play, cost them the game. Tony has every right to get on him for that. You Bostonians saw that with Tom Brady all the time. Imagine if someone punched Brady in return......and for your anti-capitalist comment......lol......Alinsky would be proud.

You know what happened? What role do you have in the organization?

Terms like cancel culture can be funny. A lot of people talking about snowflakes are really starting to act like snowflakes.

You don't get it. Tony had no right to get on him for that. Got to have lots of cache for that. Tony's history precluded that. The Tom Brady context is laughably out of line. Ever hear of a guy named Bill Belichek. That's who the players had to ultimately answer to just like Tony had to answer to his coach.
