Yes.
And not protecting Quenneville. They will likely trade for d-man...or protect Subban.
Shouldn't be a problem. Bastian, Kuokkanen....possibly Merkley. Could also re-sign players to meet if necessary.
Hard to predict the future, but should they re-sign one of these guys midseason, it's more or less saying a goodbye to that one of them. Considering that SEA needs to total up to 20 contracts, any guy with a contract for 2021-22 with some promise is very enticing for them.
NJ might be bringing in a D in exchange to Vatanen near the deadline, but I couldn't muster up a decent trade idea. Could see maybe Canes shipping Gardiner to NJ with some compensation maybe...I dunno.
Very possible, but it might look a bit bad from PR point of view, shipping their captain on his final year to a division rival...
The way the seasons been going he may not be captain by then. Also I know you traded him here but I think they just take Bennett, and if not Kylington. Gio will be 39 and has clearly fallen off

I do believe they'll trade Bennett by the deadline.
If Tanev's protected, I think the next in line who'll be taken is Gawdin, assuming Bennet has been dealt. I do see more potential in him than Kylington.
This is incredible. From the coyotes perspective the only nitpick I have is that they’ll probably protect Fischer over Burke because he’s been really solid this season, Kraken take Larson instead.
Out of curiosity, how long did this take for you to make? This looks like days worth of work.
If Arizona leaves Hill unprotected Seattle takes him and either keeps 3 goalies or trades him.

They will have enough forwards to satisfy the requirements...that won't be issue at all. It will come down to deciding between Bastian, Kuokkanen, Merkley, etc. And in 2017, one-third of teams made expansion draft trades with Vegas. Now they get the drill, maybe more this time. So NJD could do something like swap Merkley for them to take Subban.
Some teams will find it easier to delay signing UFAs (like Oshie in 2017) and others will resign before expansion draft just to expose them (like Yannick Weber)
I think bigger question for NJD is what they do with 3rd d-man slot (Severson, Butcher and ??). Do they re-sign Murray? Trade for d-man?

Be tough to pass on Vanecek....
Unless Keumper gets traded I don’t see Hill being protected. I’m not so sure that Seattle takes him though, he’s good but there’s better guys available

Good job on this BTW.
Thanks.
They made trades, true, but all teams still did meet the necessary requirements. Most likely there will be deals made as the draft gets nearer, and yes, I do believe teams will re-sign players for this reason near the ExD.
one interesting thing about the oilers uring this draft is if the nhl decides to put klefbom exempt
Can't see that happening unless Klefbom's out for good. In that VGK draft, I think all players who got exempt were players who didn't play a single game afterwards.

Even if they don't get an exemption for him, some oilers insiders have been saying klef may not be protected
if they do choose klef, they may not be getting him healthy. Couple of oilers insiders have been saying he's trying to go to cleveland to get surgery and so the plan is to go in june

Should he go unprotected, I'm fairly certain Francis will be contacting him and his agent regarding his health situation.
