Not giving up top level assets is a great way to not get top level assets, especially from a division rival

That's quite a haul actually. Bear is worth quite a bit being a right shot.

Definitely agree! Please all remember that goalies don’t go for the same value as the other skaters on the teams. About half the value I would say, so therefore that would be enough, or maybe a small piece if they want more. Tatar, Coleman, and Reimer would bring more depth, to our team which is needed. Gibson is a top 3 goalie in the league right now in my opinion, on such a good deal long term! Rinne would also look good if Reimer gets taken before we can offer. Could offer Seth Jones, or Colton Parayko in free agency the year after to make us even deeper! I believe this is a legit cup contending team, and I would like to see them perform!

tears of joy I'd be pretty impressed if you could list off a trade or two that has happened where a goalie of Gibson's ability has been moved for half the value of what it should be.

I don’t want to waste my time with that. Gibson is good, I’m not denying that. Goalies are weird. One game they will be excellent, and the next they may not be. They go for half the value of the good players. Nobody is giving a ton for a goalie that may work out, or may not.

You don't want to waste your time with it because there isn't any. Your logic here is hilarious too...I can go the complete opposite way! "Skaters are weird. One game they will be excellent, and the next they may not be. ". As for "Nobody is giving a ton for a goalie that may work out, or may not.", cool, then don't. There's no reason for the Ducks to trade Gibby without being significantly overpaid to do so, especially when the trade is in their own division.

I actually really like that deal. I was always proposing Broberg + 1st ++ for Gibson, but I think thats a really nice haul too.

You are never going to get the Ducks fanbase to like a deal for Gibson. Just like no fan base would propose a deal we would like for McDavid or Draisaitl.

Having said that, I do think that is really good value for a goalie.

I would usually agree with that logic but goalies are voodoo. They can be on top of their game and then all of a sudden they hit a wall and they are done. Gibson is probably worth a bit more then my proposal but any team that would give up their top prospects for a goalie would be insane. Let’s say Gibson was on the Oilers, would you give up Zegras and Drysdale for him in a package? I know I wouldn’t

I am firmly on the train of there is no Gibson trade that will make sense for ANA and whatever team is trying to get him, which means ANA doesnt trade him. He wont be dealt unless he explicitly asks to be moved, then he would be moved to the East, not to a division rival

Goalies dont hold value but outside of Roy (who demanded a trade) when has a goalie of Gibsons caliber signed to a deal like his been dealt? He isnt like any goalie that has been moved in the past 20+ years. There is no comparison for a John Gibson trade package, and trying to claim there is would just be lying to try and pay less than his value for him

He is going to return a package miles ahead of any goalie that has been traded if he does
