Avs shouldn't accept. 1st and Beaucage for a UFA who likely won't re-sign and the Avs can't afford. Sakic won't be handing out 1sts for rentals. Add to that Danault not wanting to be a 3C, no room at the inn unless we're moving Kadri.

Avs easily accept. This year is very likely the year the Avs will have the deepest roster given that soon the Makar, Landeskog, Grubauer, Mackinnon, Byram, etc. raises will come into play. Their window might just be opening, but this will likely be their best shot at it. Moving a late 1st and a B prospect for the ideal player to fix THE biggest hole on the roster is a no-brainer. If he does well and likes Denver you can work on resigning him in the offseason. He'd be playing 3C most likely, but 3C on a powerhouse contending for cups each year is more fun than being the 2C on a bubble team. If the money is close enough to what he's looking for it won't be hard to resign him, especially Kadri leaving in UFA the next year.

First off, Danault said he doesn’t care playing 3C, he just don’t want a defensive role only. He wants to contribute offensively.
Second, Montreal are in the same position then Colorado, that’s their best shot they have to the Cup. They will keep Tatar and Danaultfor their own rental. Might sign one of the two if they have a good playoff run.
But yes it would be a good trade for both team if MTL fell from a cliff and Toronto Calgary Edmonton Winnipeg pass them

I was simply responding to the guy who made the AGM roster. I agree that Montreal probably don't move Danault.

He might not care much for 3C, but if given the chance at a cup with Colorado I'm sure he'd at least enjoy himself and try to win for one cup run.

Would be a terrible decision, and if you're re-signing him you're giving up who now? No re-signing Saad for starters. He's not going to be happy in the lesser role and that makes it an all round bad trade. Unbalance the locker room which is something the Avs do have working well. In one of your own teams you had him re-signing for 5.5m? Where's that coming from? For a 3C? The 3C idea I'm on board with but this is NOT the way to go about it at all.

If Danault signs long-term in Colorado it's because he's happy to be the 3C, so I wouldn't worry about locker room morale at all. He'd quickly become best friends with Girard and everyone would be happy.

$5m for a 3C is doable but it's not ideal. I'm just playing with the idea.

1st rounders have been given out for lesser players then this, it's time for Colorado to start going for it since they can afford to take on salary and stack thier line up. A late 1st isnt anything to them at this point to give up, you can look at a bunch of contenders that gave up 1sts to go for it that were worst off then Colorado is now.

Sakic certainly hasn't to this point and that still doesn't address any of the other potential issues. Different if he was signed already. He's a rental for the Avs.
