NO on the Tanev trade! No way. No chance. Give us Kadri or Nylander straight up and you have a deal. Think of Hall for Larsson - Tanev is better than Larsson. You're damn right he'll improve your defence - he's emerged as one of the best shutdown guys in the league. If we're going to decimate our defence by trading him we better be getting the top 2 centre we need in return. Otherwise, it's gotta be a combo of Kapanen, Gauthier & 1st or Kapanen & Bozak kinda thing. And no, Jake isn't included. Jake for Kapanen is interesting, but if Jake figures it out, I'd take him over Kap & Leipsic combined.

Also, why give Nylander $20m over 4 yrs? Just bridge him. He has no arb rights. If you're gonna give him $5m - go to 8 years so you buy UFA years. cheers

Of all the NHL GMs who might for some reason try to coax Kovalchuk out of Russia, I'm fairly sure Lou would be dead last on the list

Who would want him - the guy quit on his team (NJ) after they went through hell to give him $100 million.

I saw you proposed a Tanev for Eberle trade. Kapanen is 6 years younger than Eberle, he fits the age of the rebuild for Vancouver and he'll be putting up similar numbers as Eberle. They're pretty comparable players. Your proposal is what gave me the idea. Also Leipsic is 22 years old and has 27 points in 22 games in the AHL this year, pretty impressive.

Oh...well thanks. I see what you're getting at, but we need an impact guy now. Not saying those guys won't be, but some aren't sure of Leipsic's NHL potential and kapanen hasn't done anything in the NHL yet. For us to give up Tanev there has to be a bonafide NHLer coming back and our greatest need is at centre. Tanev for Nylander would give both teams exactly what they want. You get a good shutdown dman on a great contract. We get a young, elite centre with years of club control.

I get your comparisons to Eberle, but Eberle has scored 25-30 and is still pretty young.

I really don't see the trade value in Leipsic. At his age if was NHL good, he would be in the NHL. Kapanen is 20 years old, and I think 6th in AHL scoring and does show NHL potential. Check all the draftees from the 2014 draft, Kapanen does show among the top five in "results" in the past 2.5 years. Thinking he will be given a NHL chance certainly by next year.
Eberle? Hasn't his time passed as being a real difference maker in the NHL?
