The trade value is probably fine, but the Kings aren't interested in trading Jonathan Quick. They're also not going to retain that much salary for 2+ years.

I bet a deal could be worked out for Jeff Carter @ 50% retention for a 2nd though.

The Avs next to 2nds are with the Islanders in the Toews trade, so I'd have to be a comparable prospect, which means someone not Barron, Timmins, Annunen or Newhook.

Kings would probably consider Drew Helleson. They could use a young RHD prospect.

Two veterans like that can really alter the dynamics of the dressing room, and I'm not sure that's the right way to go. Let this young team form its own identity.

Adding a rental 3rd pair veteran Dman would work as it's a smaller move that doesn't upset the roster too much, but players of this calibre take up more room so to speak.

I'd also be conscious of the dynamic between Grubauer and his backup, especially in a contract year where he can walk if he's not happy.
