From a hockey perspective, I don't mind that trade. But I have concerns with it from a cap perspective.

We're trading away $6.6M in cap space for contracts that end this year. And we're receiving $8.5M in cap space that expires after next year.

Next year, we need to extend Dahlin and Jokiharju, and we may want to re-sign Hall. Making this trade immediately makes re-signing Hall impossible, and honestly could hinder our ability to give those other guys long-term deals and still have flexibility to make other moves. And to me, the possibility of re-signing Hall is more valuable than two years of an overpriced aging goalie and a 3LD.

They could probably get away with it, Okposo has looked pretty good, has been winning pucks, that may actually be pretty interesting to see if he can go dig out pucks and throw them off to Hall or Eichel, IDK how much tinkering Kreuger wants to do anymore

Dahlin is not going to get the contract people think hes going to get, especially after this season.

No knock on Okposo, he's a serviceable middle six guy, but putting him on that top line is a way to ruin and drag down one of the best lines so far.

Not from what I've seen from him so far, hes had legs and as I said has been great on the puck. The top line has been great, but thats still only lead to 2 Goals from Eichel and Hall combined, both on the PP.

Kind of a double edged sword here- i would love to say we gotta throw him 8 at 9 per, because hes been unstoppable, but it works better for the cap if we bridge him.

They could easily sign him long term for less than 8 mill, these shortened season with no fans have helped that as well

Completely agree. Sergachev's contract is the comp I'm using for Dahlin right now.

But even with Dahlin getting a modest bridge deal, I'm pretty sure this would eliminate any chance of keeping Hall. I'd have to run the numbers though, I haven't dug too deep into that.

I assume we lose reinhart if we are able to keep hall. I know hall has his critics, but he is more dynamic than reinhart, plus reinhart could be traded to bring back an asset, whereas hall would walk for free.
