I'm surprised there hasn't been comments that Leafs should claim. After all in the past few years, every RHD in the league has been traded to the Leafs, and every one of those player have value as Norris candidates.

Yeah I agree, Leafs rn dont need any more D unless its a top 4 guy who can be paired with Muzzin at the deadline. Im quite happy with what Dubas has done. Yes there are mentions by leafs reporters that Dermott may be out the door as Dubas wants to get value for him before Seattle and mention that Lehtonen or Sandin can take his role as hes not playing on the PP or PK, playing 12mins at the most and he could play a bigger role on another team.

Pretty clear that the Cole trade was about doing Ian a solid, and clearing cap space for later now. Also possibly building some form of goodwill with Minny for a Bonino move at the TDL.

The trouble with the Seattle scenario is that the Leafs likely will protect 3 Dmen....Brodie, Muzzin and Reilly and would lose one of Holl and Dermot to Seattle. Gee, trade Dermot and you still lose Holl.
Last two seasons Dermot has played 17 minutes a game. Lehtonen is a UFA next summer, Sandin and Liljegren are still unproven. I would hate to go into next summer with just Brodie, Muzzin and Brodin as the only three veteran Dmen.

What would Toronto give up for Conor Timmins? He's expansion draft exempt.
