Typical of Laval over the past few games, they’ve outshot the other team significantly, but are getting stoned by the other team’s goalie. Which isn’t exactly ideal for Price, since he’s trying to get used to getting shot against again. It makes sense to keep him in for the entire game, since he hasn’t been worked very hard at all.

Random Fact: Artturi Lehkonen is the 3rd longest tenured hab in terms of being with the organization. He’s also tied with Shea Weber for 2nd on the team in playoff points with the habs, with 8 points.

That’s just a way of showing that Gallagher has been returned from his loan. He hasn’t been officially taken off LTIR yet. They’ll take him off LTIR before they play on Thursday.

So the main problem about KK, Caufield, and Romanov being scratched is that for Ducharme to change the lines, the habs have to lose a game, which obviously isn’t ideal. Dom is really trying to make it so that we have to win 4 of 6.

So Jordan Weal and Vasili Demchenko have both signed in the KHL.

Weal played well for Laval this year, and was a good pro after getting demoted to the AHL after 3 full NHL seasons. I wish him well in Kazan next year.

Demchenko is an odd one. He was signed out of Russia last April. He only played 3 games for Laval this year, and now he’s going back to Russia. I’m not sure why they even signed him in the first place. If you’re signing a goalie like him, you’d think that they would want him to be at least a backup in the AHL. And unless the decision to qualify and re-sign McNiven was a last-minute thing, I’m not sure why they thought they’d have room for Demchenko.

The signing was always puzzling. It made no sense considering they brought in Allen. He was our 5th/6th best goalie and was already 26.

He was signed way before we traded for Allen, but the habs were always going to add a backup from outside the organization. The goaltending situation was:

1. Price
2. Backup
3. Primeau
4. Lindgren/McNiven

Lindgren definitely would’ve been traded if not for the existence of the taxi-squad. The only reasoning as to why they’d think it would be useful to bring in Demchenko is if they thought they wouldn’t have McNiven, but in the 5 months between the signings of both goalies McNiven didn’t play any games, so it’s not like they could’ve changed their minds on him.
