Tbh I could see this trade just being Debrusk and a 3rd for Dunn, decent deal for both teams.

Boston would not do that. Debrusk has averaged 25g per 82 despite a slump last year. Still improving. Dunn is just a bit bigger version of Grzelyck with a bit more offense. He is not the 1st pair d man they need. With nothing to replace Debrusk they are not moving him 1 for 1 for an average 2nd pair type who is better offensively than defensively. Certainly not adding a pick to go with it. Having Grizz and Dunn as top 4 LD is still better than what they have but it’s still sketchy. And they give up a chunk of offense they can’t replace internally. The OP makes more sense for Boston. But even then i doubt they do it.

because Bortuzzo is not very good. He takes dumb penalties all the time. Bortuzzo is not an everyday player, rotate him in when you need extra toughness but otherwise let the younger kid play

Where do you get the idea that he's not very good? He's been very reliable for us all along, even with some penalties. He's strong in our end, strong on PK, block shots like a demon and is much better with the puck than people tend to give him credit for. And for his cap hit, he's quite valuable.

Yes, yes because he takes dumb penalties makes him a bad player. The man is about the most sound defensively within the organization for that 3rd pairing spot. Mikkola is a LD you don't replace him on the RD. You already have Dunn playing LD 3rd Pairing you don't want to put Perunovich on the RD 3rd pairing because that's 2 offensive guys together. Mikkola also might be ready, but Perunovich is still in College. Better suggestion sign Dunn. Leave us at what we have for now, and address the situation again once, Perunovich is out of college. That point I think Scandella is gone.

He's talking Perunovich and Mikkola. Problem is Mikkola is sheltered minutes I like him, but I would start him as the 7th man first before you even give him big minutes. Perunovich is still in college, and I'm not sure if he's gonna be ready until a year from now.

Perunovich is not in college anymore, the young guy I am referring to in this scenario is Lauzon. The pairings would look something like

Krug - Parayko
Scandella - Faulk
Perunovich/Mikkoa - Lauzon

then you have Bortuzzo as a guy that can rotate in on the right side when needed

Lauzon is also not NHL ready. Lauzon actually has worse defensive skills than Bortz. Bortz is one of the most reliable defenseman down the depth. Dumb penalties are taken by our entire team. Perron takes dumb penalties I don't see you harping on him. Sanford, Barbashev both take dumb penalties you aren't harping on them. Clifford was taking dumb penalties in Toronto. Faulk takes really dumb penalties. Yet you want to exploit Bortz as the one guy on the defense you just dont like. Lauzon has a small sample size of 16 games and 19 games over the past 2 seasons and you want to rely on him as the new 6th guy. When Bortuzzo will be 10x more reliable in-game situations. Bortuzzo knows the Blues system and works it well. Lauzon is not from our style. Very much a different style.
