Description
Bored so felt like making a leafs post seeing as thats always the best way to get something started

Leafs are obviously doing well by the coming seasons TDL and so they make a move to improve the team with the hopes of plowing through the seasons final stretch and getting a high seed.

Players are coming in solely as rentals as the leafs cannot afford to keep the two players unless they sign amazing team friendly deals in '21

I think this is a no from Minnesota. Liljergen is something the wild really don’t need. They have mennell who’s 23 and dominating the Khl and Addison. Both of which are RD and have tons of upside potential. So they already have a healthy logjam at that position with dumba and spurgeon. nobody seems to really want kerfoot at all since he’s thrown away in almost every thread. Plus MN is retaining on both players this trade. So they lost flexibility retain on 2 players and give Toronto a cap dump for a 1st and a player they don’t need. Honestly this trade just doesn’t make any sense for them across the board.

id prefer bonino as a user above mentioned but foligno is a more likely resgin

Foligno is known to get selke votes even as a bottom 6 winger. You really don’t see that ever.

I may have deleted it when editing the trade but its supposed to say Hallander or TL somewhere - just kinda giving MN the option of the D or F. Offered TL just because hes got more value than Hallander id say. Also TOR likely cant keep both or any of the players acquired here so you could resign one or both. You gain a first too make it 3 firsts in 2021. I think theres sense to it for minny. Ive heard no's from both fanbases which means the concept is close; could obviously use tweaks as I do not love the acquisition of TL for MIN but i do like kerfoot for them tbh and while i could make jokes like "more middle 6" guys for MIN i think kerfoot isnt half bad for them

I just like the C depth it gives TOR but by no means is Foligno bad/ not as good of a signing

I think it would get more traction from mn if it was a 22 draft pick. 21 is very D heavy up front. The team is top 2 D in the league and set for years plus with prospects so. Would expect more interest in a 22 pick.

works for me if thats the case of it needing to be 22, dont see why the leafs would decline that switch

As a Wild fan I like the trade. However with the border issues as they are and a abbreviated season I wonder if there will be any cross border deals this year?

I think they’ve already confirmed it won’t be a huge issue. “Quarantine” after trades is expected so we could see instead of teams getting weeks off it could be a week break after TDL (not a rumour just my own speculation). Or we could see an earlier TDL. I think teams will be smart about Canadian vs USA trades.

we should also get marino, since we already picked up foligno and bonino.

Nino Nino Bonino, Banana Fana Foligno, Me Mi Marino...

This may not come across, in which case I look like a moron, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.
